Basic overview of physical geography

Wenling City, the first sunny place in Chinese mainland in the new millennium and the new century, is located on the southeast coast of Zhejiang, on the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta, and surrounded by the sea on three sides.

East China Sea, south Yuhuan, west Yueqing and Yueqing Bay, and north Taizhou. It is a coastal city that has risen rapidly in the reform and opening up. The land area of the city is 920 square kilometers, the island area is 14.72 square kilometers, and the beach area is 155 square kilometers. Land topography is high in the west and low in the east, and gradually inclines from west to southwest to east. The west and southwest are low mountains and hills with an altitude of100-250m, and the north, middle and east are plains, with the main peak of Taihu Mountain at 734m as the highest peak, which is the remnant vein of North Yandang Mountain. There are mainly Jinqing water system and four self-contained water systems: Jiangxia Port, Hengkeng River, Hengshan River and Daleixi. The climate belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, and the maritime climate has obvious influence. The general characteristics are mild climate, four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall and suitable illumination.

Wenling history

Wenling has a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, human beings lived and multiplied here. Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties belong to the east of China, Qin belongs to Minzhong County, Han belongs to Huiji County, Three Kingdoms belongs to Linhai County, and Eastern Jin belongs to Linhai County and Yongjia County. From the Tang Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, it was Huangyan County in Taizhou and Yueqing County in Wenzhou. In the fifth year of Ming Dynasty (1469), it was located in Taiping County, belonging to Taizhou Prefecture, and in Quanxi, Taiping Township. In the 12th year of Chenghua, Shanmen Township and Yuhuan Township in Yueqing County of Wenzhou Prefecture were placed under Taiping County. In the third year of the Republic of China, it was renamed as Wenling County after it was renamed as "Wenling" in the west of Wen Qiao County because of the same name as Taiping County in Shanxi, Sichuan, Anhui and other provinces. 1949 On May 28th, Wenling County was liberated and Wenling County People's Government was established. 1March, 1994, with the approval of the State Council, the county was withdrawn and a city was established, which was called Wenling City.

Population profile

Wenling is the most populous county (city) among the nine counties (cities) in Taizhou. At the end of 2009, the population was1184,500, of which the non-agricultural population was 196 100, and the population density was 1279 per square kilometer, making it one of the counties and cities with the highest population density in China. The birth rate is 10.5‰, the death rate is 6.25‰, and the natural growth rate is 4.25‰. The sex ratio of male to female is 103.7: 100.

Wenling is a pure Han nationality settlement, living in 16 towns (streets) respectively. In recent years, with the development of economy and the expansion of intermarriage areas, ethnic minorities from all over the country, such as Dong and Manchu, have married in our city.

The city has jurisdiction over Taiping, Chengdong, Chengxi, Chengbei, Hengfeng, Zeguo, Daxi, Songmen, Ruoheng, Xinhe, Shitang, Binhai, Wenqiao, Chengnan, Shiqiaotou, Wugen and 5 towns, 1 1 towns, 97 community committees and 832 administrative villages.

With an area of 925.8 square kilometers and a population of1160,000, it is one of the counties and cities with the highest population density in China.

Wenling belongs to subtropical monsoon climate and is obviously influenced by maritime climate. The general characteristics are: distinct seasons, mild climate, moderate temperature and humidity, abundant rainfall, suitable lighting and long frost-free period. The annual average rainfall is 1 0,660 mm, and there are two rainy seasons throughout the year. May-June is the rainy season, and July-September is the typhoon rainstorm period. The annual average temperature is 17.3℃, and the hottest July temperature is between 27.2℃ and 28℃. 1 month, the coldest temperature is 6.2℃-6.7℃, and the temperature is characterized by "no severe cold in winter and no intense heat in summer". Coupled with the "tree-lined effect" of forest vegetation in hilly areas, the temperature in most mountainous areas of Wenling is 3 ~ 4℃ lower than that in urban areas, which has a remarkable summer resort function, creating a good climate environment for the development of coastal ecological holiday tourism.
