The city of Dapeng, known as the city where Dapeng defends thousands of households, is located in Pengcheng Community, Dapeng New District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It was a military fortress in China's coastal defense during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Known as "the seaside city, Dapeng is the most", it is the place where the Opium War began. Shenzhen was also called Pengcheng, which originated from this.
Dapeng Institute was built in the twenty-seventh year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1394), which is the Haiphong Institute, with a nearly trapezoidal layout. The city wall covers an area of about 6,543,800 square meters, with a height of 6 meters and a length of 654.38+ 0.200 meters. There are 654 mounds and a horse path. There are four gates in the east, west, south and north (the north gate was blocked during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty), and an enemy building is built on each gate, with two police shops on both sides. The main structure, streets and buildings of Dapeng Suocheng are well preserved, and some of the city walls, east and south gates that reflect the city's appearance are well preserved. There are more than ten generals' houses in Qing Dynasty, such as Zhao Gong Temple, Tianhou Temple, Huaguang Temple and Houwang Temple, and a number of houses in Qing Dynasty, among which General Wei Zhen's House by Lai Enjue is the most complete and outstanding. It is of great value to study the history of ancient architecture in China, the history of urban planning and construction, the folk culture in Ming and Qing dynasties and the history of ancient architecture development in Lingnan area.
