In the nuclear carving works, we can see all kinds of lifelike figures, animals, flowers and other patterns, which not only have high artistic value, but also contain rich cultural connotations. With the passage of time, Weifang nuclear carving has gradually become one of the representative cultural heritages of Weifang. The local government and all walks of life also actively promote the inheritance and development of nuclear carving art, and let more people know and appreciate this unique art form by holding various exhibitions, competitions and other activities.
The historical origin of Weifang nuclear carving;
According to legend, during the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a nuclear carving expert named Xia Baiyan, who was able to carve sixteen children with vivid eyes and the size of rice grains on the olive pit, which was appreciated by the then emperor Zhu Zhanji. In the late Ming Dynasty, Zhu Youxiao not only loved it, but also carved it himself. Weifang nuclear carving art comes from Beijing and has a history of 100 years.
It is said that there was an artist named Zhang Dayan in Zhucheng at the end of Qing Dynasty. I studied under an old master who carved beads in Beijing and returned to my hometown. He also took Weinan, a native of Wei County, as an apprentice, and later Weinan passed this technology on to his son Dou Langui. Dou Langui accepted young students as apprentices, and the two exchanged ideas, which made this ancient art shine.
