Lianshui, formerly known as "Anton", was named after the ancient Lianshui River. Huaipu County was built in the sixth year of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty (1 17).

In the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was called Andong County, and in the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), it was renamed Lianshui County. In February of the 30th year of the Republic of China, with Yanhe as the boundary, Hexi was designated as Lianshui County, belonging to Huaihai District, and Hedong was designated as Li Andong County, belonging to Yanfu District. By the end of 2004, it administered 19 townships, 1/offices, 1 new economic development zones,1industrial parks, and 375 administrative villages, with a population of142,000 and an area of/. Places of interest mainly include Nengren Temple, Moon Pagoda, Miaotong Pagoda, Migongxi Mo Chi, Chi Pan, Champion Bridge and Ji 'an Tomb. Historical and modern celebrities include Chen Deng, Wang, Gu, Luo, Zhai Huqu, Zhiping Jiang and Zheng Caizhao. Lianshui has a warm temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, with an average annual temperature of 14℃ and an average frost-free period of 2 13 days. There is plenty of sunshine and rain, with an annual average precipitation of 99 1.3mm and rainy days 104 days, with an annual average relative humidity of 77%. The territory is flat, with rivers and fertile land. The natural scenery is beautiful, among which five scenic spots are national AA-level tourist attractions.
