Hello, I'm Wei Lai from Xiaomi Marketing Department. Thank you, Mr. Liu (Ms. CEO of Entrepreneurship Media) and entrepreneurs for their meticulous organization of this event. Some of my duties are reception, such as the study tour of Wanda and Haier, which ends in an hour or two, but the arrangement like Black Horse Camp is very special: besides introducing the overall situation and product line of the company, there are also our short past four years.

We are also lucky to invite Ali (Li Wanqiang) out, and we will have a face-to-face communication with you shortly before his retirement. There is one thing I want to remind you in advance. As Ali's Weibo told his grandfather, he will retire to the United States for a while, and then he will prepare a new project. As for what this new project is, he won't say even if he is killed, so they don't ask this question.

Tell some interesting things about Xiaomi.

1, originally not called Xiaomi, almost called Red Star.

Xiaomi was founded on April 6th, 20 1 1 in a small room in Yingu Building of Beisi Environmental Protection Temple. The earliest team of 14 people got up early in the morning and had a bowl of millet porridge. This company,

It's established This bowl of millet porridge was cooked by Li Wanqiang's father at 5 o'clock in the morning and sent to the company. So far, this 14 person is still in Xiaomi, and no one has left.

Xiaomi's name is also very interesting. There were many original names. I'll share two short stories with you. One is when they are preparing, it is a teahouse in Wudaokou, and one of the halls is called Xuande Hall. At that time, we discussed the name and said it was Xuande, which was very China. Later, some people said that it was not like the naming method of Internet companies. Why don't you change your name? The red star shines on China? Also very much like China. Just call it Red Star. After everyone passes, go to the industrial and commercial bureau. As a result, people said they were sorry. The red star belongs to Erguotou, and people have written it down. Then I thought, let's call it Xiaomi. Xiaomi is the staple food of China people, and everyone can't live without it. When it comes to it, everyone feels very close. So, I finally took the name Xiaomi.

2. Eight co-founders of Xiaomi

(Several founders drink millet porridge together)

Lei Jun's initial intention in founding Xiaomi was to be a world-class company.

Mr. Lei served as CEO of Jinshan Software Company for more than ten years. After graduating from the computer department of Wuhan University, Qiu Bojun invited him to Jinshan. Beijing Jinshan Company was founded by Mr. Lei. The earliest company was in Zhuhai. I have been an executive for more than ten years, and I went public with Kingsoft for eight years, just like War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. After listing, Mr. Lei retired and became famous in one fell swoop. After that, I made some angel investments and invested in some well-known enterprises. UC web was incorporated by Ali, and YY was listed on Nasdaq in the gathering era. At its peak, it was more than $7 billion. At that time, Mr. Lei invested several million RMB, which eventually increased at least several times. Later, after Xiaomi was established, he became a Shunwei Fund.

But even after investing in these enterprises, several of them are billions or even listed, Lei always feels that it is not enough. He has a dream, and his dream is far from being realized. When he was studying at Wuhan University, he saw a book called Fire in Silicon Valley in the library. This book tells the story of many American high-tech enterprises from their founding to becoming internationally famous companies, including how Jobs founded Apple. Teacher Lei is obsessed with this book, and he also has a dream, that is, to be a world-class company.

He feels that the management process of Jinshan in the past ten years has not yet done this. He is very diligent. Teacher Lei has always had a nickname in Beijing IT circle. Zhongguancun model worker? No other entrepreneur can compare with Lei Jun who works harder. However, he thinks I'm working so hard. Why is Jinshan not as good as some emerging Internet companies? Tencent, Sina, Sohu and Jinshan are much more valuable after listing. Supposedly, we are not bad, and we are extremely diligent. Why can't we do it? At the age of 40, he made a reflection, one of which was to follow the trend. If you can't grasp the current trends and general trends, your chances of success are still not high, so he followed suit.

Around 2009, he thought that the biggest thing at the moment was the mobile Internet, so he invested in many enterprises. In this process, he slowly discovered that there is one thing that no one has touched, and that is the mobile phone. He used to be a geek himself.

He developed all kinds of financial software when he was in college. In 2009, he often carried seven or eight mobile phones in his bag, with a dozen at most. Once when he met Lin Bin, they had more mobile phones in their hands than anyone else. So he felt that he should be a mobile Internet and a mobile phone, so he founded Xiaomi with a few friends.

Xiaomi's LOGO, in addition to the meaning of Chinese pinyin mi, is also the abbreviation of the first word of mobile internet. It was clear at that time what the company's main business was. Actually, it's a Chinese word, but it's a little less, which saves the user a little heart. So when the company was first established, the name LOGO and the business it wanted to do were clearly defined.

Lin Bin: Responsible for the supply chain. After Ali closed, Lin Bin took over the business.

He was in Google before, reporting directly to Kai-fu Lee. Later, I found Mr. Lei, and Mr. Lei said let's do it together, so the earliest partner was Lin Bin. Lin Bin is now the president of the company. Originally, I was mainly responsible for the international business of important partners, supply chains and companies, including personnel and legal affairs. It was announced the day before yesterday that he would take over Xiaomi. Xiaomi is our building. When everyone came over just now, there was a building over there, which was the company headquarters. Manager Lei and our mobile phone engineer are here. This is Xiaomi. Com, there are three business lines, one is marketing department, the other is e-commerce, and the third part is our after-sales service system, which adds up to 4700 people. At first, Li Wanqiang Ali was in charge of Xiaomi's 4,700-person network, and now Lin Bin is the latest to take over.

Zhou Guangping: Responsible for mobile phone hardware development.

Dr. Zhou worked in Motorola headquarters in the United States, and then returned to China to directly establish Motorola RND R&D Center. He served as senior director and vice chairman of Motorola's Asia-Pacific Quality Committee. He enjoys a high reputation among mobile phone engineers. On June 20 1 1, Mr. Lei brought him into the company to take charge of our mobile phone hardware development.

Hongfeng: Responsible for MIUI technology.

Hong Feng used to be the product manager of Google, responsible for Google Music and Google 3D Street View Map. As we all know, Google has a culture, and engineers have 20% time to think of new ideas and develop new products. At that time, Google Street View Map was developed with several engineers. Hongfeng is responsible for our company's MIUI technology, which is a system we developed on the basis of Android.

KK Wong: One of the most handsome executives in our company.

His next name is KK Wong. He was the development director of Microsoft China. He was first in charge of the rice chat business in the company, and now he is in charge of the Xiaomi router and our cloud service business. He is the most handsome manager in our company.

Li Wanqiang: We all call him Ali.

Li Wanqiang is from Guangdong, so we call him Ali. Ali first studied industrial design and joined Kingsoft after graduating from college. First, he is responsible for the interactive design of Jinshan, then the content of Jinshan, and finally the business of Jinshan as the general manager.

General Lei found Ali before he founded Xiaomi. Ali also asked him to resign, saying, boss, I want to leave Jinshan, and I also want to start a business. Ray always tells him, what do you want? He said I want to go back to my hometown and open a film studio. Mr. Lei always said you were joking. Come with me. Li Wanqiang immediately agreed, and said no problem. Manager lei said, do you know what I want to take you for? Li Wanqiang said it must be a mobile phone. Manager Lei also wondered at that time, saying how did you guess right away? He said I know, I know you very well. Mr. Lei used to buy mobile phones when he was in Jinshan. As soon as the iPhone came out, he immediately bought a dozen for the executives, and everyone knew what he was going to do.

Wang Chuan: Responsible for Xiaomi TV and Xiaomi box.

A co-founder who recently joined the company actually started a company called Schleswig, which produces karaoke equipment. If you go to karaoke, you will find that it occupies 70% of the market in China. Then he made a mobile phone to read more books. Xiaomi bought too much last year, and then this team came in. Now this team is mainly responsible for our Xiaomi TV and Xiaomi box business.

Liu De: Responsible for investing in some smart home products.

Liu De is also a designer. He graduated from a design school near Los Angeles. This school is impressive. It is the number one design school in American industrial design. So far, there are only more than 20 China graduates. Every graduate has been divided up by major companies before leaving school, with an annual salary of $200,000. After returning to China, Liu De joined University of Science and Technology Beijing as the head of the Department of Industrial Design. He is responsible for the company's IT design, that is, the design of our mobile phone is his leading role. Recently, we set up a new team called Eco-chain, which is mainly responsible for investing in some smart home products, and Delai Liu is also responsible.

This is Xiaomi's senior management team. Six of the eight people are engineers, and the other two are designers. Five of the eight people are returnees and the other three are locals? Terrapin? Therefore, this is a team that combines foreign culture and local culture, with the background of multinational companies such as Google, Microsoft and Motorola, as well as local rising enterprises such as Jinshan.

There is also an overseas person: hugo barra, who doesn't want to come to Beijing (probably because of the smog) and is currently in charge of international business in India.

In June 5438+last year 10, hugo barra joined Xiaomi, a Brazilian, graduated from a prestigious MIT school and worked as a security officer at Google.

Global vice president of Zhuo products. He is by far the highest-ranking executive in Silicon Valley in the United States invited by China IT companies and Internet companies. There was an episode. When he was invited, Mr. Lei asked him to say that you must come to Beijing. I used to do international business and said that I would leave this person in the US team or in Hong Kong. This time, Mr. Lei said that he would let you come to Beijing directly, so that you can better understand Xiaomi and know how Xiaomi achieved such a degree today. Therefore, Hugo decided to come after a long ideological struggle. Recently, he moved to India, because our business in India has developed very well, and it is basically resident. Hugo is in charge of our international business now, and everyone will visit our overseas customer service in the future. Now we have entered seven countries and regions. It has not been decided whether Brazil, Mexico or Russia will enter the next region.

3. Explain the business model behind Xiaomi: software, hardware and Internet services.

Xiaomi's business model consists of three parts, one is software, that is, our MIUI system, and our hardware, that is, Xiaomi mobile phone, Xiaomi box and other products you see now, as well as Internet services.

MIUI: It is already a life service platform.

Let's talk about software first. As of August this year, MIUI users have exceeded 70 million. It has a feature that it is updated iteratively every week. After you sold your old mobile phone system, this system has not changed. Xiaomi upgrades the updated version every week, and now it has more than 27 languages. This is a very huge system.

The first is free WIFI tips. When you go to train stations and airports, your mobile phone will automatically prompt you for free WIFI. Secondly, the strange number label, now all my children know, says dad is not a junk mobile phone. Another, when we launched MIUI V6 in August this year, an important function was to realize visualization. Let you easily handle customer service.

Nowadays, MIUI is no longer an app-like service that simply provides themes, but a life service platform.

Hardware: Articles are explosive, which is our strategy.

Our goal is to make the best intelligent hardware. By July this year, we had three models with a total price of more than 6.5438+million. Redmi held a press conference on July 30th last year and began selling them in August. By July this year, the sales volume was180 thousand. Last week, Mr. Lei announced that by the end of 10, the sales of our red rice Note mobile phone will soon exceed10 million, and the red rice Note will be sold in April this year. Our single models are all explosions, and this is the strategy.

Last year, we also produced a product called Xiaomi Box, which has a very good reputation. The price is 299, which was made by Wang Chuan Duokan team and often won prizes.

There are also Xiaomi TV II and Xiaomi Tablet.

Internet business: dedicated, extreme and fast.

Enterprises represented by Internet thinking mobilize users to participate in the research and development, marketing and after-sales service of mobile phones. On our own forum, our main communication platform with users, millions of netizens submitted posts. MIUI has two versions in Chinese and English, and netizens have produced versions in 25 languages, all of which are made spontaneously by rice noodles all over the world, and it doesn't cost a penny. They have to spend a lot of time and energy on each version, so it proves that users love our products and brands.

The core of Internet thinking is concentration, extreme, speed and word of mouth, which is also the seven-character formula of General Lei. The company has two goals, one is to make products that make users scream, and the other is to make users willing to recommend products to their relatives and friends after buying them. There are three persistences, making friends with users, making products with real materials and starting a business.
