Hakka historical buildings
Hakkas are a special group in China. They emigrated from Central Plains and other places to Guangdong, Jiangxi, Fujian and overseas. In the impression of most people, there seems to be no Hakka settlement in other provinces. I recently traveled to Sichuan and found that there are many Hakkas living around Chengdu. They gathered in towns and formed a complete cultural system.

Luodai Ancient Town in Longquanyi District of Chengdu is an ancient town with rich Hakka culture. There are not only antique old buildings here, but also a round earth building. Coming here, I have a feeling of visiting Longyan in Fujian and Meizhou in Guangdong.

Why are there Hakkas in Sichuan Province? Where did they come from? There is a detailed introduction in the blog building by the pond outside Luodai Ancient Town.

At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the population of Sichuan dropped sharply, and the court launched the Huguang filling Sichuan movement. Most Hakkas entered the Sichuan Basin in this wave of immigration, took root, sprouted and thrived.

Blog building is not a historical building in Luodai ancient town, but a newly-built antique building. Although it is located in the periphery of the ancient town, it is a popular punching point because this kind of building is a rarity in Sichuan Basin and Hakka culture is more or less mysterious to Chengdu people.

The interior of the blog building has been developed into a museum to show the historical and cultural characteristics of Hakka's southward migration through pictures, words, objects and wax figures.

This round earth building built with modern technology is now open to tourists free of charge, and its commercial atmosphere is not strong. Looking up at the sky from the ground reminds people of the picture in "Big Fish Begonia".

Tulou is a very special building, and its circular structure makes all positions bear uniform stress, which is still strong after many years, which is why Longyan, Meizhou, Ganzhou and other places have retained many enclosed houses and tulou.

Tulou, a kind of building, embodies the architectural wisdom of Hakka ancestors and has high practicability.

Historically, for various reasons, Hakkas generally lived in mountainous and hilly areas. Tulou, a building where people live in groups, can make the nation more United and has outstanding effects in resisting the intrusion of wild animals, bandits and enemies. As long as the gate is closed, the whole building is like a bunker.

Any building will be more attractive as long as it has more culture as the carrier. When you walk into Luodai Blog Building, you will know the history of Hakka carefully and feel that the building is like a living life.

Although the Hakkas living in Chengdu have retained some characteristics of the Hakkas from Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian, they have integrated Sichuan characteristics in details, mainly in terms of diet and language.

In the 5,000-year history of civilization, the Chinese nation has been migrating and merging everywhere, but as a special group, the Hakka people's migration fever has become more concentrated and the original culture has been better preserved.

Travel Tips: Take Chengdu Metro to Xihe Station, and then transfer to Bus No.219 or L024 /L042.
