What is the historical background of Sun Yat-sen's proposal of the Three People's Principles in the People's Daily?
Sun Yat-sen's Three People's Principles mainly include nationalism, civil rights and people's livelihood. Nationalism demands China's national liberation, equality of all ethnic groups and opposition to imperialist colonial policies; Civil rights require that sovereignty belongs to the people. To establish a country ruled by law, the people should have political power, and the government should only have political power, and the legislative, judicial, administrative, examination and supervision powers should be separated. People's livelihood requires equal land rights, land to the tiller and capital constraints. Later, on this basis, Sun Yat-sen formulated three policies of "uniting Russia, uniting the Communist Party and helping the peasants and workers", which became the fundamental symbol and revolutionary soul of the Three People's Principles. After Sun Yat-sen's death, the Kuomintang Rightist reactionaries distorted the Three People's Principles according to their needs. Chiang Kai-shek interpreted nationalism as "anti-communism and anti-Russia", freedom, equality and fraternity. Jiang Jingguo believes that the Three People's Principles are to create a rich, peaceful and pleasant society; Some people interpret it as "freedom, democracy and equal wealth" and so on. The essence of these explanations is diametrically opposed to Dr. Sun Yat-sen's position.
