As early as the 25th year of the King of Qin (222 BC), the State of Chu was destroyed by the State of Qin, making it convenient for Qiantang County to be located in today's Hangzhou. According to Records of the Historian-Biography of Qin Shihuang, in the thirty-seventh year of Ming Emperor's reign, he toured the east, "crossing Danyang, reaching Qiantang and approaching Zhejiang". As a place name, this is the first official record of Qiantang. In the fourth year of Wude (AD 62 1), Qiantang was changed to Qiantang because of avoiding the name of the country. As a place name, it is still in use today.
