Sichuan and Chongqing refer to Sichuan and Chongqing in the administrative region of China. It belonged to Bashu in ancient times. "Sichuan" is the abbreviation of Sichuan Province and "Chongqing" is the abbreviation of Chongqing. Located in the Sichuan Basin and the east of Wushan, they both belonged to Sichuan in ancient times because of the integration of cultural life and customs.
Therefore, the current "Sichuan and Chongqing" is a geographical concept, and the two places are often collectively referred to as "Sichuan and Chongqing" by the outside world. In the fourth year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (100 1), the original Bashu area was divided into Yizhou (now Chengdu), Zizhou (now Santai), Lizhou (now Guangyuan) and Kuizhou (now Fengjie), which were collectively called "Xia Chuan No.4 Road" or "Sichuan Road". In the meantime, there were also officials such as Sichuan appeasement ambassador and Sichuan Fu Xuan ambassador, which were later called "Sichuan", hence the name Sichuan.
In Song Dynasty, Chongqing successively belonged to Xichuan Road, Xiaxi Road and Kuizhou Road. In the first year of Chongning in the Northern Song Dynasty (1 102), the word "Chongqing" was changed to "Zi" because of Zhao's rebellion. In the sixteenth year of Xichun in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 189), Duke Zhou was promoted to Chongqing, hence the name Chongqing (now Yuzhong Peninsula), which has been more than 800 years.
