Mr. Lin's historical story has two characteristics.
First, pay attention to the accuracy of historical facts. His historical stories are different from romantic novels. Although romantic novels are vivid, there are many fictional plots in them. His historical stories emphasize the historical development process and respect historical facts. They are mainly based on "official history" such as Spring and Autumn Annals, Historical Records, History of Han Dynasty, History of Later Han Dynasty and History of the Three Kingdoms. He didn't use the stories of "Peach Blossoms Becoming sworn" and "Grass Boat Borrowing Arrows" in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
The second is the colloquialism of words. Mr. Lin is a linguist who has an in-depth study of Putonghua. He is from Ningbo, Zhejiang. Although he can only speak the dialect of his hometown, he can write articles in authentic Mandarin. This book is easy to read, just like listening to a story, so it is not only an excellent historical reading, but also an excellent Chinese reading.
