There are two kinds of playing arts of Pinghu school pipa: Shanghai school (Pudong school) and Zhejiang school (Pinghu school). ? Pinghu School, famous for its pipa, is one of the four most influential schools in China's modern history.

On June 14, 2008, Pinghu Pipa was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list published by the State Council. But it doesn't seem to be a world intangible cultural heritage.

Now pinghu city Baihua Primary School has been regarded as the inheritance base of Pinghu Pipa School, a national intangible cultural heritage.
