Guangdong roast goose originated from roast duck, which was recorded in the "Shibaolu" in the Southern and Northern Dynasties in China. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang, Chen and other people with lofty ideals retired to Guangdong to protect the young emperor and insisted on resisting Yuan Dynasty. The Southern Song chefs also came to Guangdong. As a famous dish in Song Dynasty, roast duck was naturally brought here. There is no inkstone duck rich in Hangzhou, Guangdong, so the chef replaced it with a local goose in Guangdong and improved it into a roast goose with unique Guangdong characteristics.
