The school, formerly known as the Third Normal School, was founded in 19 13. 1936 school was named as a provincial Qujing middle school by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, adding a senior middle school class to become a complete middle school. 1957, the school was renamed Qujing No.1 Middle School. In 2003, Qujing No.1 Middle School was promoted to a first-class complete middle school in Yunnan Province.
