Weishan county history and culture
Weishan has a long history and splendid culture. It is a national historical and cultural city, an important part of the national Dali scenic spot, and the birthplace of the international river Red River. There are well-preserved ancient cities built in the 23rd year of Hongwu, Ming Dynasty, more than 600 years ago, National Forest Park, Weibaoshan, one of the famous Taoist mountains in China 14, the main roads of bird migration, and more than 30 key cultural relics protection units at the provincial, state and county levels.

Weishan is also one of the famous religious shrines in western Yunnan. Witchcraft, Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Catholicism and Christianity are very popular, among which witchcraft, Taoism and Buddhism have the longest history. There are famous mountains such as Weibaoshan, Wuyin Mountain and Xiaojuzu Mountain, as well as Taoist and Buddhist temples such as Tianmeiya Temple, Khufu Temple, Longjiang Temple, Xuannishou Temple and Lingyan Temple. Since the Tang Dynasty, a large number of religious temples have been built in China, and these temples have been continuously restored and rebuilt in past dynasties. Weishan ancient city was listed as a national historical and cultural city from 65438 to 0994. Weishan is also one of the key counties of religious work in Yunnan Province. Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Catholicism, Christianity and primitive religions have a long history. There are Zhu Xuan Temple, Yuanjue Temple, Yunyin Temple, Hehe Temple, Longyushan Mountain, Wuyin Mountain, Sanhe Cave, Guifeng Temple and Mosque in the county. According to statistics, there are 85 Buddhist temples, 78 primitive religions, including Taoist temples 104. At present, there are 6 Neolithic sites100, more than 2 pieces of cultural relics at all levels, and more than 30 provincial, state and county key cultural relics protection units. Since the Ming Dynasty, there have been more than 20 scholars.

Weishan ancient city was built in the twenty-third year of Ming Hongwu. There are many ancient buildings in this city, the main symbol of which is the magnificent Chen Gong Building. Some cultural relics and historic sites, such as the ancient architectural complex of Weibaoshan Taoist Temple, are listed as provincial key cultural relics protection units.
