(2) The shortest dynasty is the "new dynasty" established by Wang Mang in terms of state power. From 9 to 23 AD, it was only 14 years, one year shorter than that of the Qin Dynasty (from 22 1 year to 206 BC, the Qin Dynasty was 15 years long). Counting the separatist dynasties together, the shortest dynasty was the "later Han Dynasty" in the Five Dynasties, which lasted only three years (947-950 AD).
