At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Shanghai, Ningbo and Yangtze River inland ports opened one after another, and the routes to Japan and the Pacific Ocean became increasingly busy. Flower and Bird Island is the only place for these routes, and there are many island reefs nearby. At that time, the first batch of lighthouses planned by the maritime department of the Qing customs included the Bird Island Lighthouse. Finally, the Flower and Bird Lighthouse was funded by Britain and built by Shanghai laborers. Completed on 1870. Since then, the lighthouse has also been managed by Britain and rebuilt on 19 16. 1943 After the Pacific War broke out, Japan took over the lighthouse, and the National Government sent planes to bomb it, but the damage was very slight. 1950 Lighthouse was occupied by China People's Liberation Army and is now managed by Shanghai Maritime Bureau.
