What is Honebo?
Honebo, from Japan, was originally one of the four major players (there are four major players in the history of Japanese Go, namely Honebo, Yasui, Inoue and Lin, which are often called "the four major chess houses". )

Nowadays, people often hear the words "Honebo" and "celebrity" in the news of Weiqi matches, both of which are titles of Weiqi champions. Whoever wins the championship can be called Honebo or a celebrity. In other words, the title is the specific title of some competition champions.

The origins of the names Honebo, Celebrity and Chess House are all directly related to Honebo I's sand table calculation ... It's a long story:

Honipo was originally the name of a temple. Honebo, the first Japanese, was born in Jiajing period (about 1557), which was a famous "Warring States Period" in the history of Japanese island countries. In order to avoid the dust of the Warring States period, his father sent him to a quiet temple to become a monk. His dharma name was Rihai. The young monk in Rihai is very clever and talented in chess. Besides chanting, he is very interested in going. At that time, Nobuyoshi Oda, a famous hero in the history of Japanese island countries, was also a chess fan and often invited Rihai to play chess with him. Nobunaga is quite conceited about his chess skills. Unexpectedly, Rihai gave birth to five sons, but he still lived comfortably. Oda was impressed by Rihai's chess skills. After playing a wonderful game in Rihai, he praised: "You are really a celebrity." Nobuo Oda spoke, which is the origin of Weiqi celebrities. At that time, Rihai was only twenty-two years old in the sixth year of Tianzheng (1578).

Ten years in the sky (1582), Nobunaga held a chess banquet and invited Rihai to play chess with another famous player, Lu Yanli Xian. He and other generals sat quietly and watched the game. As a result, there was a rare win-lose situation, and the two sides had to reach an agreement as a win-lose draw. In the middle of the night, Akechi Mitsuhide mutinied, and Nobuyuki ODA and his son Nobuyuki died in the fire of arrows. This is the change of the famous Honnoji Temple in the history of Japanese island countries. So until today, there are still ominous statements in Japanese chess.

Faithful Rihai, while the rebels were still there, publicly called monks to make amphibious Dojo for Oda and his son, and prayed for the blessing of ghosts and gods for Nobunaga and his son with great fanfare. At that time, everyone thought that Rihai's move was dangerous, but Rihai didn't hesitate. Its courage is really admirable. Soon, Li Ping rebelled and heard about the righteous act, and he admired it very much. Toyotomi Hideyoshi also loves playing chess, and thinks that chess theory is interlinked with the art of war, so he strongly advocates it. With the help of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Rihai expanded and rebuilt the Silent Temple, and renamed it Honipo and Shusha. This is the origin of Honebo.

At the same time, Toyotomi Hideyoshi set up a "Chess Club" for Rihai as the honor of being the first national chess player, and allocated an annual allowance of 300 Shilumi, which was paid by the state to support chess players. In the current "National Chess Institute".

At that time, the approval of the stage was extremely strict, except for the strength factor, which was very different from the current high-level chess players flying all over the sky. In addition to strength, Duan also represents the position in the chess world. At that time, the fifth stage was a high-level chess player, and the seventh stage was called "entry", which meant entering the ranks of first-class masters. It's great to get seven stages before the age of 30. Ba Duan is a quasi-celebrity, with at most two or three contemporaries. The ninth paragraph is the highest paragraph, but there can only be one person, that is, a "celebrity" and only one celebrity at the same time. Once promoted to the ninth section, it means being appointed as a "chess house" at any time. Therefore, the two can be regarded as synonyms. Honebo is the most prosperous of the four and has made the greatest contribution to the development of Japanese Go skills. Among the 10 celebrities (nine paragraphs, chess house) in the history of Japanese Go, only Honebo accounted for seven.

Today, although the ancient chess family system no longer exists, the name "Huo Ningbo" is still one of the top titles in Japanese chess competitions, like the "celebrity" leader, and has become the target of top players.

The history of Japanese Go seems like a novel to us today, which is very interesting. But in those days, it was a desperate battlefield for chess players. If you know these histories, it will be more interesting to watch Chess Soul.
