The first round of rural land contracting starts from around 1983 and ends at 1997, with a contracting period of 15. The second round of land contracting started from 1997, and the land contracting period was extended for another 30 years. The Rural Land Contract Law promulgated in 2002 further clearly stipulates that the contracted period of cultivated land is 30 years. Rural land contracting refers to rural land such as barren hills, gullies, barren hills and barren beaches that are not suitable for family contracting within rural collective economic organizations, and can be contracted through bidding, auction and public consultation. After the rural land is contracted, the nature of land ownership remains unchanged, and the contracted land may not be bought or sold. Members of rural collective economic organizations have the right to contract rural land contracted by the collective economic organizations according to law.

The state practices the rural land contract management system. Rural land contracting adopts household contracting within rural collective economic organizations. Rural land such as barren hills, gullies, hills and beaches that are not suitable for household contracting can be contracted through bidding, auction and public consultation.

What are the precautions for rural land contracting?

1. During the contract period, if the whole family of the contractor moves into a small town to settle down, according to the wishes of the contractor, it shall retain its land contractual management right or allow it to transfer the land contractual management right according to law;

2. During the contract period, the whole family of the contractor will move into the city with districts and turn to non-agricultural registered permanent residence, and the contracted cultivated land and grassland will be handed over to the employer.
