The World Cup is an international volleyball competition in which high-level men's and women's teams from all over the world participate. It is held every four years. Since 199 1 World Cup was held one year before the Olympic Games, it was equivalent to the Olympic qualifiers.

The predecessor of the World Cup is the "Three Continents" volleyball match, that is, three continents (Asia, Europe and America). 1964, FIVB changed its name to "world cup" volleyball match, and decided to hold the first world cup men's volleyball match in Poland in September 1965, and the first world cup women's volleyball match in Uruguay in June 1973.
