1. From June of 1928, the national government vigorously publicized getting rid of the shackles of unequal treaties and launched a campaign to "revise the New Testament" with the great powers. This movement mainly focuses on tariff autonomy and the abolition of consular jurisdiction. The National Government's "Revision of the New Testament Movement" restored China's long-lost sovereignty, reduced the privileges enjoyed by some imperialists in China for a long time, denied the legitimacy of consular jurisdiction, increased the national customs revenue, objectively reflected the people's wishes and interests, and had certain positive significance. But it is not complete, and its provisions on abolishing consular jurisdiction are essentially a dead letter. [restriction]
2. Now China is an independent country and has not signed any unequal treaties with any foreign countries. Therefore, there is no need to revise the New Testament Movement.
At the end of 1927, Chiang Kai-shek made a speech, stopping trade with the Soviet Union, expelling Soviet nationals and announcing the breaking of diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. Now China and Russia are allies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
I don't know what inspiration you want. The only revelation is to keep pace with the times. Different historical backgrounds adopt different diplomatic means. Safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is an eternal principle. But weak countries have no diplomacy. Only by enriching the country and strengthening the people is the fundamental way out for diplomatic victory. It is not dogmatic copying, but copying the enlightenment of the so-called New Testament Movement.
