Han Buddhism is also called Northern Buddhism. Buddhism was first introduced to China from Central Asia through the Silk Road. 2. Bamiyan Giant Buddha (Bamiyan /Bamian in English) is located in Bamiyan City, Bamiyan Province, Afghanistan, and is deeply hidden in Bamiyan Grottoes in Bamiyan Valley, Afghanistan, and is listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO.
There are two giant buddhas in Bamiyan Grottoes, one carved in the 5th century, 53 meters high and wearing a red cassock, commonly known as the "Western Giant Buddha"; A statue carved in 1 century, 37 meters high, wearing a blue cassock, commonly known as the "Oriental Buddha". The two giant buddhas are 400 meters apart and stand out from a distance. The face and hands of the Buddha were painted gold. Faxian, a monk in the Jin Dynasty in China, and Xuanzang in the Tang Dynasty both visited the magnificent Bamiyan Buddha.
Bamiyan Giant Buddha has experienced many vicissitudes, with a history of 1500 years, and suffered three disasters. On 2001March 12, the giant Buddha was brutally bombed by the Taliban regime and was unrecognizable. Countries all over the world are organizing the restoration and protection of Buddha statues, and the main participating countries are Germany, Italy, France and Japan.
