Wenfeng Tower in Anyang, Henan Province

Wenfeng Tower is a very unique tower, located in the northwest corner of the ancient city of Anyang. Founded in the second year of Zhou Wenshun (952), it has a history of 1000 years.

Because the tower was built in Tianning Temple, it was originally named Tianning Temple Tower.

1722 (in the 37th year of Qing Qianlong), Huang Bangning, the magistrate of Zhang De, presided over the reconstruction of Tianning Temple Tower.

He thinks that the pagoda echoes the Confucius Temple in the south (in the present school of Xidajie Primary School in Anyang City), and both of them can represent the cultural peak of the ancient city, so he inscribed the four characters "Wenfeng Songxiu" on the horizontal forehead of the pagoda gate, and named the pagoda "Wenfeng Pagoda", which is still in use today.

Ba Long's Tomb is located in the west of Chenzhuang Village, 2 kilometers north of Xuchang City. It is the tomb of Xunshu, the Hou Xiang of Langling in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.

Xun Yu's eight sons (frugality, glory, scenery, pottery, Wang, Shuang, Su,) were all celebrities in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and Cao Wei period, and were called the Eight Dragons.

For example, Xun Shuang, at the age of twelve, familiarized himself with Spring and Autumn Annals, and began to dress in cloth, reaching the "three fairs" in ninety-five days.

Xun You, grandson of Xunzi's uncle Xun You, is Cao Cao's counselor. Cao Cao praised him as a "strategist, Xun You, who was an assistant minister from the beginning, and he was defeated by the enemy before and after."

Xun is the grandson of Xun Shu, the son of Xiang Xun Yi in Jinan, an important counselor of Cao Cao, and his official position is official.

Legend has it that after Uncle Xun's death, Bazi planted a cypress tree on the top of the tomb, so it was called the 800 Tomb. There are sporadic tombs in the northwest of the tomb, which have been abandoned for a long time and have now been razed to the ground

Barron's tomb is round, about 5 meters high and about 100 meters in circumference.

So what's unique about Wenfeng Pagoda? Most of the towers are gradually lowered from bottom to top. The uniqueness of Wenfeng Tower lies in its unconventional and umbrella-shaped tower body, which is rare at home and abroad.

The tower is 38.65 meters high, the circumference of the tower foundation is 40 meters and the wall thickness is 2.5 meters.

The tower has five layers of heavy data, which increases from bottom to top.

There are bronze bells hanging on the eaves of each floor, and the breeze is Xu Lai, and the tinkling sound is pleasant to hear, giving people a sense of lofty silence.

Wenfeng Tower is an octagonal structure with brick and wood structure and glazed tile roof. The eight walls of the tower are decorated with straight windows, round ticket doors and Buddhist brick carvings, which are meticulous in carving, vivid in image and moving in shape.

At the bottom is the tower foundation. There are round lotus seats on the tower foundation, and seven lotus petals are staggered up and down, stretching left and right, supporting the tower body, protecting the tower foundation and making the tower more beautiful.

The round lotus is the tower. The lowest tower body of the tower is higher, with one door on each side of the front, of which the south is the true door and the rest are the false doors.

On the forehead of the ticket gate, there is an image of two dragons playing with beads carved with bricks.

The octagon is surrounded by dragons, with chains, cangues and locks, which is very spectacular.

Let's take a look at eight brick Buddhist story images between eight dragon pillars.

This one in the southwest corner is a Buddha statue.

This picture in the west is an image of the birth of Prince Siddhartha of Sakyamuni Buddha.

This snow book in the northwest corner is the image of an ascetic monk.

There are Guanyin Bodhisattva and auspicious dragon female statues in the north.

The northeast corner is the Buddha statue.

In the east, there is a statue of Sakyamuni.

In the southeast corner are statues of Persian kings and queens who are worshiped by Buddhism.

It can be seen that the characters in the picture are obviously China-like, and the line drawing of the characters is completely Central Plains style, which shows that the western sage Ying Shi Muny was deeply rooted in China at that time.

Moreover, these reliefs are vivid in modeling, lifelike in expression, natural in posture and lifelike, which are rare art treasures.

From these images, we can see that the relief technology at that time was exquisite, and we can also feel the lofty position of Buddha in people's hearts at that time and people's yearning for beauty and peace.

Enter the tower gate and spiral along 72 steps to the top of the tower.

With the stairs getting steeper and steeper, now we come to the platform at the top of the tower, and we can see an Aquarius-shaped tower brake standing in the middle of the tower, with a height of 10 meter, which is very similar to the White Tower Brake in Beijing Beihai.

The top of the tower is surrounded by a chest wall more than l meters high, and the platform can accommodate more than 200 people.

Looking from the top of the tower, you can see the whole picture of Anyang ancient city.

In the Ming Dynasty, our name was Zhangdefu City, with a perimeter of 9 Li l 13 steps, and more than 90 large and small streets criss-crossed, dense as cobwebs, with 9 houses, 18 lanes and 72 hutongs.

Now the administrative area where Wenfeng Pagoda is located is called Wenfeng District.

In order to transform the old city, Anyang City * * * implemented a bridge project on Wulu Road to beautify and brighten the pavement. Wenfeng Avenue, a circular road around Wenfeng Pagoda, is one of them. It is specially designed to protect Wenfeng Pagoda and maintain the original appearance of Anyang ancient city.

The new buildings around this road, including street lamps, are also imitation of ancient times, adding a beautiful scenery to the ancient city.

During the period of 1997, Mr. Zhao Puchu, chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association and a famous poet, visited Wenfeng Pagoda and wrote a poem: "The umbrella is high to block the waves, and the shadow of the Weihe Tower is better than the Weihe River.

What is even more amazing is how wonderful the statue is. There will never be a moment in this life.
