In the ancient cultural area, surrounded by the antique building cloister composed of Jibeilin, Shenyuantai Temple Pavilion, Jicheng Hall, Huaizhou Pavilion and Mingdemen, the unearthed tripod found the archaeological structure of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty Imperial City: the tomb of the Emperor.
The owner of the tomb may be Zhou Pingwang, the first emperor of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
After a long period of careful textual research, archaeologists in Luoyang City, Henan Province recently revealed another important discovery of Eastern Zhou archaeology: two tombs of Eastern Zhou Dynasty with extremely high specifications were discovered near the 27th Middle School in this city. A bronze tripod engraved with the word "Wang Zuo" was unearthed in one of the tombs. Archaeologists speculate that this tomb is the tomb of an emperor in the early Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and its owner may be Zhou Pingwang, the first emperor of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
From February 5438+0,65438 in 2006 to the spring of 2002, Luoyang Cultural Relics Team cooperated with the infrastructure construction and excavated two tombs of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty near No.27 Middle School in the urban area. One of them is a 6.6-meter-long and 5-meter-wide "Ya"-shaped tomb with four tombs. The other is a Han-shaped tomb with a length of 5.8 meters and a width of 4.2 meters. There are two pyramid-shaped tombs. The two are more than 20 meters apart and belong to the same period. It is understood that there are four "cliff"-shaped tombs, which are the highest-ranking tombs of the early Eastern Zhou Dynasty discovered in China so far. Previously, two burial pits (1 car pit and 1 horse pit) were found a few meters away from the "ya" shaped tomb. The remains of 53 wheels were found in the car pit and 56 horses were found in the horse pit.
The coffins and the bones of the tomb owners in the two tombs have been hard to find, and most of the funerary objects have been stolen. However, after cleaning up, archaeologists have cleaned up more than 200 bronzes, jade articles, mussels and other objects in the two tombs. Archaeologists said that the rough workmanship of these cultural relics showed that the national strength had declined at that time.
Inside the 1 broken bronze tripod unearthed in the tooth-shaped tomb, archaeologists found five words with the inscription "□ Yi" (the middle word is missing, and archaeologists guess it should be "Bao"). According to the shape, ornamentation and inscription of "Wang Zuo" on unearthed bronzes, archaeologists speculate that the tomb with the shape of "Ya" is the tomb of a son of heaven in the early Spring and Autumn Period, and according to the reign of the son of heaven in the early Spring and Autumn Period, it is speculated that the owner of the tomb is probably Zhou Pingwang, the first son of heaven in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. The tomb of Han Dynasty should be the tomb of aristocrats in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
It is reported that these two tombs are located on the east wall of the ruins of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Previously, around these two tombs, tombs and chariots and horses pits have been frequently found in the vicinity of the 27 th Middle School of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Cultural Square. Cultural relics workers have speculated that this may be the "tomb area" of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, but there has been no definite evidence. The discovery of two large tombs, especially the tomb of the son of heaven with exact records, provides strong evidence for the statement of "Wangling District" which embodies the connotation of "Capital of Zhou Dynasty".
