Zhenbeitai is located at the top of Hongshan Mountain, 4 kilometers north of Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Zhenbeitai is one of the most magnificent buildings in the ruins of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty. Known as "one of the three wonders of the Great Wall in China (Shanhaiguan in the east, Zhenbeitai in the middle and Jiayuguan in the west)" and "the first Great Wall in Wan Li". There is a poem that says, "A hard backbone of the Great Wall of Wan Li lies in the north and will always exist", and "Take the stage to play the dynasty and the soldiers".
Zhenbeitai is in danger, controlling the north and south throats such as giant locks and border crossings. It is one of the largest existing fortresses along the ancient Great Wall and an important part of the Great Wall.
history
After Qin destroyed the six countries, counties were set up in Yulin area and the Great Wall was built. Zhenbeitai Great Wall is one of them. In the early Ming Dynasty, Yansui Town moved from Suide to Yulin, and set up markets in Hongshan, Shenmu and Huangfuchuan to the north of Yansui Town to trade with Mongolians.
Since the mutual market, Mongolians often wait for opportunities to go south and plunder property. For the safety of the border town, in the tenth year of Ming Dynasty (1474), Yu Zijun, governor of Yansui, built the Great Wall of Yansui Town in April on the basis of the Great Wall of Qin and Sui Dynasties. At the same time, in order to cooperate with the trade of Hongshan City, Yima City and tribute city for Mongols were also built to control the trade. In the thirty-fifth year of Wanli (1607), the town north platform was built in the southwest corner of Gongcheng, the top of Hongshan Mountain, and the situation of the enemy and the mutual market was observed from a commanding height.
Zhenbeitai is square in plane and four stories high.
