Jiang Ziya did exist in the history of China. Jiang Ziya is a man, not a god. That is to say, Jiang Ziya, who is omnipotent in all kinds of movies and myths, does not exist. However, the real Jiang Ziya did have this person in history.
However, Jiang Ziya's historical identity is clear. Jiang Ziya was a strategist and adviser of the emperors Zhou Wenwang and Zhou Wuwang, and also a founding hero of the Zhou Dynasty. In the "King Wu's crusade" (that is, Zhou Wuwang's crusade against Shang Zhouwang, also known as Makino's Battle) in about 1046 BC, Jiang Ziya was Zhou Wuwang's strategist and made outstanding achievements.
Ancient records
Jiang Ziya came to the capital and wanted to work under Zhou Wenwang. He inquired about the places that Zhou Wenwang often passed by, so he sat quietly by the river fishing all the way.
When Zhou Wenwang passed by, he watched Jiang Ziya fish and found that his hook was straight, so Zhou Wenwang asked him, Old man, how can you catch fish because your hook is straight?
Jiang Ziya replied: I fish with fate. I fish with a straight hook. Those who are willing to take the bait and those who are unwilling to take the bait should not be forced.
