1926, more than half of artificially separated cocoons were found in the Neolithic site of Yin Xi Village, Xia County, Shaanxi Province.

This site belongs to Yangshao cultural system, so some people think that sericulture has existed in China since 5000 BC.

In 1960, a pottery pupa was found at Yangshao Cultural Site in Xiwang Village, Ruicheng County, Shanxi Province. 1980, after two pottery pupae were found at Yangshao Site in Nanzhuang, Zhengding, Hebei Province, it was felt that half of the cocoons in Xiaxian County, Shanxi Province were probably Neolithic relics.
