Mencius' famous saying:
Those who love others will always love others; People who respect others will always respect others.
Yes, then the weight; Degree, then know the length.
Nourishing the heart is not good at lust
Cultivating talents and teachers is the foundation of the country. I know what I said, and I am good at cultivating my noble spirit.
If you don't follow the rules, you can't be Fiona Fang.
You can't light a candle at both ends.
The story of Mencius
Chapter one: Broken Weaving is a metaphor for Mencius.
I was interested in learning at first, but I got bored after a long time and often played truant. Meng Mu was very angry when he learned about it. He picked up a knife and cut the warp on the loom. He said, "You give up studying like I cut the thread on the loom. This cloth is woven bit by bit. Now, if the thread is cut, the cloth cannot be woven. A gentleman studies to become famous, and he can increase his intellectual restraint by asking questions. How can it be useful to play truant often? You don't study hard today, but you are lazy to cultivate yourself. You can't stay away from disaster in the future. Don't be a robber in the future, but also a servant! " Meng Mu used "breaking the weave" as a warning to "drop out of school", pointing out that you should be persistent in doing things, and once you have a clear goal, you will not be disturbed by the outside world. Give up halfway, and the consequences will be very serious. In Mencius' mind, the scene of "breaking the metaphor" left a vivid impression of both shock and fear. Since then, Mencius has become a master of Confucianism in the history of China.
Chapter two: Mencius recited when he was young.
When Mencius was young, once he was reciting poems and his mother was spinning. Mencius suddenly stopped. After a while, he began to chant again. Knowing that he had forgotten, his mother stopped him and asked, "Why did you stop halfway? Mencius replied, "I forgot, but I remembered later." Mencius' mother picked up a knife and cut her own cloth, saying, "This cloth has been cut, can it be attached again?" "Since then, Mencius has been absorbed in reading.
Chapter three: Mencius was educated.
Mencius' wife was alone in the house, squatting on the ground. When Mencius entered the rhinoceros and saw his wife like this, he said to his mother, "This woman has no manners. Please allow me to divorce her. " Meng Mu said, "Why?" Mencius said, "She is on the ground." Meng Mu asked, "How do you know?" Mencius said, "I saw it with my own eyes." Meng Mu said, "This is because you are impolite, not because women are impolite. The Book of Rites doesn't say that when you want to enter the door, you must first ask who is in the rhinoceros: when you want to enter the hall, you must first announce it loudly and let the people inside know that when you want to enter the rhinoceros, you must look down. " "The Book of Rites" said this in order not to make people unprepared. Now you go to the place where your wife lives and rests, and when she enters the house, people don't know, so you can see her squatting on the ground. This is your bad manners, not your wife's bad manners. "After listening to Meng Mu's teaching, Mencius realized that he was wrong, and never dared to mention the divorce again.
