The history of the old station building of Tianjin West Railway Station
1In September, 898, Yingde Capital Group held a meeting in London and decided to undertake the Tianjin-Zhenjiang railway. The Qing government succumbed to the pressure and signed a draft loan agreement in May 1899, and signed a loan contract in May 1908, changing the Jinzhen Railway into the Jinpu (Nanjing Pukou) Railway. But the difference is that the construction of the northern section of the Jin-Pu Railway started from half of that time, from Liangwangzhuang in Jinghai County to Tianjin. This is because the starting address of Tianjin has not been determined. The investigator sent by Lu Haihuan, the minister in charge of railway supervision, submitted a valuable document: "There are more than two hectares of open space behind Zhaojiachang, Hebei Province, with flat terrain and no houses and graves, which can be used to build the main station building." At that time, the so-called "Zhaojiachang in Hebei" was actually the area from Beiyingmen to Nanyun Canal in Hongqiao District today. Because the South Canal was not dug at that time, it was called "Zhaojiachang in Hebei" on the bank of Hebei, only 500 meters away from today's Tianjin West Railway Station. Later, Zhao Jia Railway Station, now the waiting room of Tianjin West Railway Station, was built here.
