The School of Chemistry and Environmental Science of Hebei University has a history of more than 50 years. Its predecessor was the Department of Chemistry of Teachers College of National Jingu University, which was established in Tianjin 195 1. On 1952, it was transformed into the Department of Biochemistry of Tianjin Normal University, with Lin as the head of the department. 1953 biochemistry department is divided into biology department and chemistry department. From 65438 to 0954, Professor Shen Hongkang became the head of the Department of Chemistry, and all relevant chemistry courses in the Department of Biology were undertaken by the Department of Chemistry. 1958 Tianjin normal university was changed to Tianjin normal university, and the chemistry department set up seven research groups, including 40 1-407. After Tianjin Normal University 1960 was transformed into Hebei University, the chemistry department also developed rapidly with a brand-new look, and gradually changed from a normal discipline to a science department in a comprehensive university. The enrollment scope was changed from the whole country to Hebei province, and the academic system was changed to a five-year undergraduate course in chemistry. After the beginning of the Cultural Revolution, the normal order of teaching and scientific research in the Department of Chemistry was greatly disturbed and was once in a state of chaos and paralysis.

1970 Hebei University moved to Baoding. The Department of Chemistry enrolled six students of workers, peasants and soldiers from 1970 to 1976 for three consecutive years. 1977 after the resumption of the college entrance examination, the enrollment of workers, peasants and soldiers was stopped. The undergraduate course of chemistry has been restored for four years, with three majors: inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry and polymer chemistry. 1983 according to the opinions of the state education commission on specialty setting, the original three majors were changed to chemistry majors. The major of chemistry department has been chemistry major from 1983 to 1992 (from 1983 to 1985, there are three disciplines of inorganic, analytical and polymer, and two disciplines have been added from 1985),/kloc-0. 1982 chemistry department began to recruit graduate students in analytical chemistry and physical chemistry, 1984 began to recruit graduate students in inorganic chemistry, but all of them invited foreign schools to award degrees on their behalf. 1986 the department of chemistry awarded the master's degree in analytical chemistry.

1992, new material chemistry was added to the Department of Chemistry; 1996 the department of chemistry awarded the master's degree in polymer chemistry and physics; 1997, adding Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry; 1998 the department of chemistry awarded the doctor's degree in analytical chemistry and the master's degree in organic chemistry; And in 1999, he was awarded the undergraduate degree of environmental science in the Department of Chemistry.
