Li myth and legend
The myths and legends in Liu Yichuan are based on Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio compiled by Chen Han in Tang Dynasty, written by Li. The background of the times is that during the Zhenyuan period more than 100 years after the founding of the Tang Dynasty, there was a small official named Li in the official department who liked to write fairy tales. One day, he went to the suburbs to interview Xue Wei, a retired official. Xue Wei told him in detail the legendary story of his cousin Liu Yi delivering books for the Dragon Lady. After returning to China, he repeatedly thought about it and revised it into Liu Yichuan, which became one of the most successful legendary chapters since the Tang Dynasty and occupied a place in the history of China literature. The story tells that the daughter of Dongting Dragon King married the second son of Jingchuan Dragon King. The husband abused his wife and drove her out of the Dragon Palace to herd sheep. The dragon lady had nowhere to turn for help, so she hid her face and wept. Liu Yi, a scholar, sent a book and newspaper on behalf of the Dragon Girl, who was rescued and reunited with her family in the Dragon Palace. Dragon Lady thanked Liu Yi for her kindness and fell in love. The Dragon King also wants to marry her daughter to Liu Yi. However, Liu Yi's biography is a brave statement that he refused marriage because of his selflessness. After returning home, Liu Yi married two wives, both of whom died unfortunately. Later, he married a fisherman's daughter, who looked like a dragon girl. Later, he found out that this woman was the dragon girl who asked for books. Since then, the husband and wife have respected each other and lived together for a long time.
