Suzhou embroidery has a history of more than 2,000 years, and it is said that the first embroidered dress of Nvhong, a granddaughter from Zhong Yong. Tai Bohe, the son of Zhou people, came to Suzhou in the south of the Yangtze River to establish the State of Wu, and the local people had the custom of tattooing. Zhong Yong became the monarch of the State of Wu. He wanted to get rid of this bad habit, so he consulted with the elders. Unexpectedly, their discussion was heard by the granddaughter Nvhong who was sewing clothes. She listened while sewing, absent-minded. Inadvertently, her hand was pricked by a needle, and a small drop of bright red blood immediately touched the material and gradually fainted into a small flower, so the needlework was inspired to embroider a dragon pattern on her clothes instead of a tattoo. To commemorate the inventor of embroidery, women's activities such as spinning, sewing and embroidery are still called "needlework".
