History of covered bridges
Covered bridges have a history of more than 2,000 years in China, and there are records about covered bridges in Han Dynasty. Hongqiao prevailed in the Central Plains during the Northern Song Dynasty, represented by Bianshui Hongqiao. However, Bianshui Hongqiao is only preserved in the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival painted by Zhang Zeduan in the Northern Song Dynasty. However, some experts believe that this Hongqiao technology still exists in the covered bridge at the junction of Fujian and Zhejiang, and has not been lost.
