The Reform Movement of 1898 was a patriotic national salvation movement and a capitalist reform movement initiated and led by bourgeois reformists. Although it failed, its bourgeois ideology aroused great reflection in the ideological and cultural circles. More people understand and accept the bourgeois reform thought, and more people of insight begin to think about the road of saving the country and the people. Therefore, it objectively played the role of ideological enlightenment and was the first ideological emancipation movement in modern times.
