The Historical Significance of Early Architecture in Wuhan University
There are 26 buildings in 15 in these series of buildings, which were approved by the state as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in June 20001year, and also one of the first batch of national key scenic spots-East Lake Scenic Area. The early architecture of Wuhan University is of great significance in the architectural history of China. It combines Chinese and western architectural styles, and integrates elements of western classical architecture into traditional architectural styles such as gardens and temples in China. The whole complex is like a garden and a beautiful palace. At the same time, in addition, the buildings are hidden in green mountains and green waters, and have many functions such as teaching, scientific research, educating people and serving the society. These early buildings are 68 buildings with an area of 78,000 square meters. In addition, it also includes some buildings from the 1940s and 1950s. Among them, 26 buildings covering an area of 54,000 square meters are listed as national key cultural relics protection units. Keith's campus layout design runs through the idea of "axial symmetry, master-slave order, central hall and four corners worshipping the building" in China traditional architecture, and adopts the method of "taking advantage of its potential from far away and taking advantage of its quality from near". The layout of the whole campus was free and orderly, which promoted the level of environmental space to the maximum extent, and also influenced the later buildings in China to open the atmosphere.
