On the east side of Wugong Temple, there is a tall building built in Ming Dynasty, which is Su Gong Temple dedicated to Su Dongpo. There is a stone statue of Su Dongpo in the temple. In the fourth year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1097), Su Shi was exiled to Hainan Island and stayed here for more than 20 days. He learned that the local people had difficulty drinking water, so he dug a captive millet spring and a heart-washing spring. Floating Su Quan is sweet and clear, and there are small bubbles on the water surface, which are like small grains of rice, hence the name. 19 15 years, Su Quan Pavilion, Xi Xinxuan and Dong Zhuoxuan were added during the reconstruction of Sugong Temple, which were collectively called Qiongyuan. Sugong Temple is connected with Wu Gong Temple, with quiet environment, lush flowers and trees, and has the reputation of "trees in the temple".
Wugong Temple is connected with pavilions and pavilions such as Sugong Temple, Fubo Temple, Xuepu Hall, Guanjia Hall, Wugong Jingshe and Qiongyuan on both sides, forming a group of garden-style buildings, commonly known as Wugong Temple, covering an area of nearly 7 hectares. The environment here is elegant, the architecture is towering, the ancient trees are towering, and the flowers are overflowing, which is known as the "Qiongtai Scenic Spot".
"Five Gentlemen" refers to five famous historical ministers who came to Hainan during the Tang and Song Dynasties, namely, Li Deyu, Li Gang and Zhao Ding, prime ministers of the Tang Dynasty, and Li Guang and Hu Quan, great scholars of the Song Dynasty. It is not easy for them to succeed thousands of miles away, and they have made immortal contributions to the cultural education and economic development of Hainan Island. People in Hainan have built shrines to worship them for generations. In the 15th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1889), the first floor of Hainan was built by Taizu of Leiqiong Road to commemorate "martial arts", hence the name Wugong Temple. Later, Wugong Temple was called the first floor of Hainan and a group of ancient buildings around it.
