The Historical Evolution of Touzao Town
In the third year of the Republic of China, the first stove was Hedong Heduo City. In the eighteenth year of the Republic of China (1929), it was withdrawn from the city and set up a district township office, belonging to one district and nine stoves. In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it was under the jurisdiction of Niandong Town in Caoduo District, belonging to Liuzao. Xinxiang is composed of Xinhe Township, Yandong Township, Liuzao Township and some villages in Hengqu, and named Touzao Township after the resident Touzao. /kloc-0 merged into sizao commune in 1958,/kloc-0 planned to build touzao people's commune in the spring of 1959. 1983 resumed Touzao Township during the restructuring,1July 1987 withdrew from the township to build a town.

Touzao is the birthplace of coastal salt culture. As early as hundreds of years ago, it was named the first stove because of its embryonic form, and it was known as "the first stove in the world". Touzao is also an advanced unit to create civilized villages and towns in China. Under the guidance of Scientific Outlook on Development, great progress has been made in the construction of three civilizations, and it has been commended for many times as an advanced unit of comprehensive development in Dongtai City, an advanced unit of financial revenue development in Yancheng City, twice as a party committee in Wu Hao Town, ten times as a civilized town in Jiangsu Province, and an advanced unit of creating a national civilized town in 2004.

The meaning of place names

According to the county records, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Luo and Li Er moved here to burn salt for a living, which was the first stove in the East at that time, hence the name Touzao.
