Our view: As a brand-new MPV model of SAIC Volkswagen, Wei Ran has attracted many people's attention since its debut. For a long time, Volkswagen brands have a strong insight into the needs of domestic consumers, especially for models that focus on the business market. They know what consumers like and want, so they have achieved good market performance. You can also find the difference between it and the previous MPV in Wei Ran. Facing the direct competitor Buick GL8, the rising star Wei Ran must show some "real skills".
Now that we are talking about Wei Ran, we must go back to the end of last year. As the first MPV model of SAIC Volkswagen, Wei Ran made its world debut at Guangzhou Auto Show in 20 19, which attracted great attention. Volkswagen brand also has a very successful past in MPV history, but it seems to be somewhat "acclimatized" in China. Seeing that GL8 has a comfortable performance in this market segment, the public naturally can't sit still, and with the emergence of Wei Ran, it finally has the strength to impact the luxury business MPV market.
Big enough to break the tradition and be more commercial.
When I saw Wei Ran, my first impression was that it was huge. It seems that a standard parking space can't accommodate its body size. You can easily find it, and the Touran parked next to it is not as big as before. Driving it when there is a traffic jam on the ring road in Beijing, you can obviously notice the eyes around you. I never thought that an MPV with the "Volkswagen" logo would be so eye-catching.
If you look closely at Wei Ran, you will find out why it attracts so much attention. The whole front design is full of obvious business features, especially the large-area chrome-plated decoration almost occupies the whole front, which highlights the strong business atmosphere while being tough, and IQ Light intelligent LED headlights are the crowning touch. Wei Ran broke the traditional image of traditional square rigid MPV and showed more confident business attributes.
When you come to the side of the car, you will find the difference in Wei Ran. The body length of 5346 mm and the oversized rim of 20 inches make the visual effect even greater. Obviously, this design will be more in line with the aesthetic habits of domestic consumers, and it is absolutely justified in face. Bilateral electric side sliding doors also ensure the convenience of entry and exit. As for the spatial performance, we will sit in the car and talk about it later.
The rear windshield with a large inclination angle looks more agile. The design of the rear of the car is very simple, and not too many lines are used for embellishment. A chrome trim runs through the rear of the car and is connected to the taillights. The new Volkswagen Flat Logo is also the first logo adopted in Wei Ran.
When you open the suitcase, you can see that the Wei Ran platform is very flat, but the height is very high. The volume of the 436 liter is slightly smaller than that of the GL8, but there will be more space on both sides, and a 12V power interface and a small hook are provided.
Luxurious, please come in and enjoy.
Of course, I think what everyone is looking forward to most is the performance of the second row seats. Perhaps, in the traditional impression of many people, the performance of the front row of an MPV model is often ignored, but on the whole, Wei Ran still provides a very good driving environment for drivers, which is not only easy to drive but also easy to use.
The design of the T-shaped center console will not bring too many surprises, which is almost the same as the current Touran. Although it is less fresh, we can still feel Wei Ran's efforts to create a more luxurious business atmosphere in the details such as the rhombic lattice texture of the door trim, the ten-color atmosphere lights and the collocation of various materials in the interior.
10.25 inch full LCD instrument is indispensable, which supports full-image display mode and has exquisite display effect. It would be better if it could be matched with HUD head-up display function.
There is a 9.2-inch screen above the center console, equipped with Volkswagen's latest intelligent car coupling system. The overall performance of the system is definitely a surprise. First, support voice wake-up function. You can easily wake it up by saying "Hello, Volkswagen", and the recognition rate and reaction speed are both medium and high. You can also use it to set navigation, air conditioning or music playback.
The navigation system also uses a high-tech vehicle-mounted system, so the practicality is needless to say. Fingers close to the screen can display the names of function keys, and the addition of online music and remote control of mobile APP will undoubtedly make Wei Ran more intelligent.
The air conditioning button area at the bottom of the screen has also been completely changed. It is no longer a traditional knob design, but a full touch operation with a stronger overall feeling. Don't worry, it's easy to use, just move your fingers. Wireless charging function is also essential. I will naturally put my mobile phone here when I get on the bus. Of course, if your mobile phone doesn't support this function, up to 4 USB sockets in the front row can also make it easy for you to deal with it.
Wei Ran adopts double-sided electric sliding door design. Two independent seats in the second row provide a more comfortable ride experience. The seat also supports ventilation, heating and massage functions. Electric leg rest and aviation sleeping headrest are also indispensable. The overall seat softness is not blindly pursued. Adjust the relaxed sitting posture and enjoy the journey.
At your fingertips, you can find a manual sunshade, a cup holder and a USB charging socket. There is also a small storage compartment behind the front seat where you can put your mobile phone. But I think there are two details that make me feel sorry for Wei Ran. There is no small table in the back row and 220V power supply. It will obviously be inconvenient if you have to deal with some work.
The air conditioning area panel is not designed on the roof. If you want to adjust it, it may be a little far. Of course, there is another detail that I think is very good. The handle on the door side of the seat is not fixed, which will make you more elegant when getting on and off.
For a 7-seat 2+2+3 MVP model, the space performance of the third row is equally important, especially for Wei Ran, which pays attention to business positioning. The situation of the third row of seats should often appear. There are two ways to enter, through the gap between the second row of seats, or slide the second row of seats forward.
If you want better legroom in the third row, the space of the front seats will be compromised, but within an acceptable range, the passengers in the third row will also have comfortable seating space and will not feel trapped there. The head space has not been sacrificed because of the streamlined body shape, but it is still very generous. At the same time, there are air outlets, cup holders and USB sockets in the third row. As many as 10 charging sockets can be found in the whole car, plus the wireless charging board, which is very satisfying.
Driving is convenient, and driving assistance is the highlight.
Finally, talk about motivation. Maybe many people don't care so much about its power performance, but when I drive Weiwei, I think it can be regarded as a very easy car to drive compared with other MPVs. It is because you are on the same platform as Touran that you drive it, just like driving another SUV. There is no feeling of "sailing" at all, and the overall driving texture is excellent. The 380TSI model is equipped with EA888 2.0T high-power engine, with maximum power and peak torque of 220 HP and 350 N respectively. rice. It is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and its parameters are basically the same as those of the Tulang 380TSI model.
Don't get used to it. Everything seems so "popular". Even as a driver, Wei Ran is a very interesting car to drive.
Surprisingly, the performance of ACC3.0 third-generation adaptive cruise and lane keeping system is definitely a bright spot. The timing of system intervention is early, and deviation is corrected. Not only is it easier to drive a long distance, but it can pass even if the speed reaches 80 km/h. You know, many models are actually difficult to complete now, and I have tried several times and passed smoothly.
When riding in the second row, the advantages of overall NVH and seat comfort are reflected to the greatest extent, and the adjustment of shock absorption system is also highlighted to the greatest extent. With the help of seat massage and the surging music from 12 speaker Dynaudio Audio, you can "Beijing paralysis" in a very comfortable and relaxed state in your seat, which is absolutely comfortable.
When I experienced Volkswagen Wei Ran, I described it as a completely satisfactory model. The front row gives drivers more fun, the second row passengers have room to enjoy themselves, and the third row doesn't compromise too much. Compared with Buick GL8, the two have their own advantages, and Wei Ran has brought consumers a new understanding of MPV. Maybe when an MPV with a public logo passes by, you can be attracted by its powerful gas field and give your boss enough face.
