The fact that the History of the Later Han Dynasty and the History of the Three Kingdoms did not mention him does not prove that he does not exist. At the end of the Three Kingdoms, the population was more than seven million, as evidenced by the household registration at that time. Not all of them have historical identities, but they do have historical identity cards.
But because of the long history, we can't find their hukou now, but we can't deny their existence. Few people can leave their names in the History of the Later Han Dynasty and the History of the Three Kingdoms, but we can't deny that they are not real people without registration.
But Zhang Zhongjing is not an ordinary historical figure after all. It is puzzling that he has no clue. However, you can still see some traces in other classics.
First, He Qing's evaluation of Zhang Zhongjing is recorded in Biography of He Qing. Zhang Zhongjing, from the same county, made a comparison with the general angle, and said, "If you think carefully and don't have a high rhyme, you will be a good doctor and die as you say. "
Zhang Zhongjing and He Qing are fellow villagers in the same county. He Qing thinks that he is diligent in thinking, cautious, comprehensive, thorough and thoughtful, but his personality is too low-key, a little wooden, not good at publicity, and he will not hype himself, so he will not make great progress in his career, but he will be a good doctor in the future.
But this is just Zhang Zhongjing's study of medical skills when he was young, which does not mean that he has never been an official. Just like some online celebrities now, they don't have much skill, but they are thick-skinned, hot and not good at hype. Although they are great, they are not well known.
In the era of "learning to be an excellent official", you can't be a senior official, don't even think about it. He Qing was a great man and a famous critic in the Three Kingdoms period at the end of Han Dynasty. Just like today's media tycoon, he is a super mentor. He said, whoever can do it and who can't, can do it.
There is no cause for the Three Kingdoms, and the Book of the Later Han Dynasty has its biography. Yu Xun is a great man. He is called "the genius of Wang Zuo", which was hyped by He Qing. He marveled at Cao Cao's extraordinary demeanor and future.
In "Peaceful Magnolia", there is a biography specially introducing He Qing, which introduces his evaluation of Zhang Zhongjing. Taiping Yulan is a book compiled by scholars such as Li Yun, Li Mu and Xu Xuan in Zhao Guangyi, Song Taizong, which is mainly an ancient health-preserving book contended by Taoism, Confucianism and a hundred schools of thought. Whether Zhang Zhongjing mentioned here is a real person or not, Leopard Eye thinks there is no doubt that it is up to the friends to decide whether to believe it or not.
Second, there is a saying that Zhang Xian, the then Changsha satrap, was Zhang Zhongjing.
Sun's Biography of Zhang Zhongjing in Qing Dynasty thinks that this Zhang Zhongjing is. The reason is that Zhongjing is the word, which means that he is the second child in the family. Scenery means admiration, and admiration and envy are exactly the same. This statement has not been recognized.
Because Zhang Zhongjing is the magistrate of Changsha, it originated from the Record of Famous Doctors written by Gan Bozong in the Tang Dynasty, which was not recorded before.
I think it's reliable, because Zhang Zhongjing's being an official is too low-key, just like Bian said. Therefore, the reputation of being an official is not great, and it is better to be a reputation left by practicing medicine. In addition, Zhang Xian must have words, and Zhang Zhongjing must be famous. History books generally record personal biographies according to political achievements.
As the prefect of Changsha, Zhang Xian couldn't stand being fooled by Huan Jie. He rebelled against Liu Biao and supported Cao Cao in the battle of Guandu. This was no big deal, not to mention Zhang Xi 'an's early death, and his son Zhang Zhou became the prefect of Changsha and was destroyed by Liu Biao. This story is not enough to build a monument.
The historical position of medical practitioners
Hua Tuo was a famous historical doctor in the same period, but his biography was included in Biography of Shu Wei Ji Fang, which was also the last volume of Shu Wei. Comments: Hua Tuo's medical diagnosis, Du Kui's vocal music, Zhu Jianping's physiognomy, Zhou Xuanzhi's dream and Guan Lu's technique are all mysterious and ingenious. Yesterday's history was transferred to biographies of Bian Que, Cang Gong and Japanese, so it was widely heard and expressed miracles.
In other words, Hua Tuo treated patients and saved lives, and interacted with people engaged in vocal music art, fortune telling and dream interpretation. Although they are all awesome people, they are all jugglers. It is not a serious career for a scholar, and no matter how profound the Tao is, it will not enter the elegant hall. Stunt skills, all the same. However, as a scholar, I often regret being a doctor.
Hua tuo's magical power is superb, but as a scholar, he can't be an official, but his medical skill is brilliant, so he often has regrets. Zhang Zhongjing, also a famous doctor, is probably the biggest doctor. An official has the best medical skills. Because of this, there is no biography left in the world.
Although He Qing concluded that Zhang Zhongjing would not have high achievements in his official career, he could be a famous doctor. But Zhang Zhongjing's first consideration is politics and part-time medical practice. There was nothing wrong with it, but it affected his medical achievements.
Huangfu Mi, a medical scientist in Jin Dynasty, recorded a story in the Preface of Acupuncture: Zhong Wang Xuan, one of the seven sons of Jian 'an, met Zhang Zhongjing once when he was about twenty years old. Zhang Zhongjing asserted that RoyceWong's eyebrows would fall off in 20 years and he would die in half a year. But as long as you eat Wushi decoction, you can treat it.
RoyceWong thought he was not ill, and even thought that Zhang Zhongjing was talking nonsense and didn't take medicine. Results Twenty years later, Wang Can really lost his eyebrows and died 187 days later. Isn't this amazing? Hua Tuo's biography records many similar things, but scraping bones to cure poison is not a thing at all.
I am afraid that Hua Tuo was able to spread because of his story with Cao Cao. At that time, there were many famous doctors, and Hua Tuo was not the only one. Because the doctor's status was not high, not many people introduced him. Except for emperors, princes, queens and concubines, others have very few resources. It is easy to understand that it is difficult for doctors to have a place.
This may be the fundamental reason why Zhang Zhongjing did not circulate in the History of the Three Kingdoms and the Book of the Later Han Dynasty. But this does not affect Zhang Zhongjing's real historical existence.
