Qin and Western Han Dynasties were the land of Ba County.
In the first year of the Eastern Han Dynasty (89 AD to 105), Hanchang County was established. In the sixth year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 20 1 year), it was changed to Brazil County, followed by Dangliang County, Guihua County and Otani County.
In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Bazhou was first established in the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 5 14) in Yanchang, Xuan Wudi. Bazhong District was established on July 5th 1993. There are more than 52 10 cliff statues in Nankan, Xikan, Beikan and Shuining Temple, which were built in Liang and Wei Dynasties and flourished in the Tang Dynasty. They are famous for their exquisite layout and simple artistic style, reappearing the brilliant religious art of the Tang Dynasty, and are praised by experts at home and abroad as "the first colorful sculpture in Bazhong during the prosperous Tang Dynasty".
