Due to the special period, the State Council decided not to have a holiday during the Spring Festival. 1 967 February/day, Beijing Daily reported that the State Council officially issued a notice to all parts of the country, and 1967 will not have a holiday during the Spring Festival. It was not until June 1979 that the People's Daily published a letter from readers entitled "Why don't we have a holiday during the Spring Festival", which aroused many people's response throughout the country. The Spring Festival holiday system officially returned in June 1980.
