Development history of Yuyuantan:
In the thirty-eighth year of Qingganlong (1773), it was dredged into the lake, so that it was introduced into the water by the newly opened Xiangshan River. In addition, a sluice was built at the lower mouth to store and drain the lake water and lead the river water from Sanli River to Fuchengmen moat. There is a palace in the east.
The back lake is silted up and overgrown with weeds. After liberation, a gourd-shaped new lake of about 10 hectare was excavated in Yongding River diversion project. There is an experimental hydropower station downstream. The east and west ends of the new and old lakes are connected, which can not only divert water but also store water.
