The biggest defeat in Tokugawa Ieyasu's history —— Only on the tripartite war during the Warring States Period.
If we are Japanese field masters during the Warring States Period, we must mention two famous military commanders, Takeda Shingen and Chihiro Uesugi, even in China. In the tug-of-war between Takeda Shingen and his old enemy, Sugiyama Kenshin, Chuan Dao, the fourth middle school in the fourth year of Lu Yong (1560), was the most famous, and their fighting talent became famous later.

However, among many military commanders, many people ignore a man who is comparable to Takeda Shingen in field talent. This man is Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first generation general of the edo shogunate.

Compared with later generations, Nobuyuki Oda and Nobuyuki Uesugi, Takeda Shingen, Tokugawa Ieyasu and Takeda Shingen really fought to the death during the Warring States Period. In this battle called "The War of the Three Kingdoms" by later generations, Tokugawa Ieyasu was defeated by Takeda Shingen, and even later generations fabricated a rumor that he was so scared that he was incontinent when he fled the battlefield. So, what is the battle of the Three Kingdoms?

When Tokugawa Ieyasu was a child, he was held hostage by the Imakawa Tower of Imakawa Pavilion of Fujun. Until the Battle of Furukawa Prefecture, Imagawa Yoshimoto, the owner of the present Furukawa Prefecture, died in battle. Only after Tokugawa Ieyasu became independent from the Jinchuan family, he returned to the territory of Sanhe Kingdom in his father's grandparents' period and fabricated the origin of Fujiwara Tokugawa Stream.

After Imagawa Yoshimoto's death, Ishikawa, who succeeded to the throne, could not effectively control the Imakawa family, and finally attracted the attention of Imakawa family ally Takeda Shingen. Takeda Shingen was the highest-ranking politician and strategist in the Japanese Warring States Period. His superb means of political adjustment, flexible tactical response and great personal charm have made the originally stagnant northeast Japan a bully, and once made neighbors Imakawa, Shangshan and Kitajima dizzy.

Takeda Shingen wanted to annex the declining Imakawa family, but he was afraid of being attacked by the good family behind him. In addition, the Tojo family, which originally belonged to the "tripartite alliance (the alliance of Takeda, Imagawa and Tojo)", may not stand idly by. Takeda Shingen will never fight an uncertain war. In order to alleviate the pressure that might be suffered after the annexation of Imakawa, he first formed an alliance with Imakawa's sworn enemy, Xintai, and then secretly wooed Tokugawa Ieyasu, who was Imakawa's retainer and is now Imakawa's ally, to carve up Imakawa's territory with Dachuan as the boundary.

However, Takeda Shingen is a very conceited and reckless person. In this war to carve up the present Sichuan family, because the present Sichuan army is very weak, Takeda army accidentally hit Dachuan and occupied a lot of territory that should have been given to Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Different from the images created by later novelists, Tokugawa Ieyasu is a figure that is difficult to create in history. He is decisive, aggressive and timid. After Takeda Shingen broke the contract, Tokugawa Ieyasu reached a settlement with Ishikawa Paul, Beitiao and Shangshan, extradited Ishikawa Paul to Yuejia Beitiao, and formed a "Takeda encirclement network" against Takeda Shingen with Beitiao and Shangshan.

However, at this time, Shangshan Qianxin focused on the strategy of Hokuriku, and Tojo's family wanted to get involved. So, Takeda Shingen actually came to catch cicadas and yellowbirds, formed an alliance with enemies of Tojo, such as Sasaki and Yu Dou Palace, and organized a "Tojo's encirclement network" for Tojo's family, which made Tojo's family fight on both sides, without giving consideration to both ends.

However, Takeda Shingen still knows how many ounces he has. With diabolical eyes, he saw Takeda encircling the net, and he was the only one who could really pose a threat to himself-Tokugawa Ieyasu.

In the second year of Yuan Gui (157 1), the only person in the North Island family who could fight against Takeda Shingen died, and his successor Hongzhi was immediately making a covenant with Takeda Shingen again. During this period, Takeda Shingen has been preparing for the westward battle, and even actively participated in mediating the war between Nobunobu Oda and Kishimoto.

Facts have proved that Takeda Shingen's smoke bombs fooled everyone.

In the following year of Yuan Gui's third year, Takeda Shingen secretly formed an alliance with Asakura Yoshikage, Azai Nagamasa, and Zhusi Temple in Ishiyamamoto. At the same time, he released a rumor to attack Sugiyama Chien-shin, and used it as an excuse to gather troops, as if to cooperate with Takeda Shingen's performance. Uesugi Kenshin also prepared for Takeda's invasion and ordered the leader to take defensive measures.

Unexpectedly, on September 29th, Yamagata Masakage, the pioneer of Takeda Army, set out from Jiafei, but his destination was not the territory of Shangshan Jianxin, but the Yuanhe country where Tokugawa Ieyasu was located. Traditionally, most general theories mentioned that the purpose of Takeda Shingen's trip was to go to Shanghai. However, Takeda Shingen's documents never mentioned his words about going out this time. Besides, Takeda Shingen is not a fool, not to mention whether Takeda Army can successfully break through Tokugawa and Oda's territory and go to Beijing for peace. Even in Pingan, how can Takeda Shingen gain a foothold?

In Takeda Shingen's letter to Aoping Zhensheng, Takeda Shingen mentioned the reason of this invasion: "In five days, our army crossed Tianlongchuan and went to BangSong Cheng (Cheng Ju, Tokugawa Ieyasu) to settle my three-year enmity ..." The hatred in my heart in the past three years refers to a wave of things that Tokugawa Ieyasu, Beidao and Shangshan jointly engaged in in in Takeda Shingen three years ago.

In The Tale of Three Rivers, Tokugawa Ieyasu learned that after Takeda Shingen went out, he personally led the Qingqi to investigate the movement of Takeda Army, but Takeda Shingen found out. In a word, thanks to Benduo Zhongsheng's good fighting skills, he defeated Takeda Army with fewer victories and saved Tokugawa Ieyasu's life. Takeda Army then headed for Bangsong City along Qiuye Street, but before Bangsong City, he suddenly turned around and headed west in front of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Tokugawa Ieyasu was humiliated and wanted to go out of the city to fight, but he was stopped by his retainer. Tokugawa Ieyasu said angrily, "If we let the enemy pass in front of me, future generations will definitely laugh at us." Then reinforcements led by Tokugawa Army and Nobunaga Oda were sent to pursue Takeda Shingen.

The two armies then joined forces on the original platform of the three parties. After Tokugawa Ieyasu led the army to climb the hillside, he found that Takeda Shingen's army had set up its formation here, waiting for the arrival of the Tokugawa army. Facing an enemy twice as large as himself, Tokugawa Ieyasu kept up with the crisis and quickly changed his troops from marching formation to fighting formation to cope with Takeda's attack.

Have to say, when Tokugawa Ieyasu initially disposed of the three parties, quite a few Takeda Shingen quickly changed the attitude of the army formation after Bagan's sudden encounter with Sugiyama Jianxin, which fully demonstrated that Tokugawa Ieyasu was an out-and-out general.

Takeda Army then stormed the Tokugawa Army, with Yamagata Masakage, the leader of Takeda Army, as the pioneer. However, the leading eldest brother obviously exaggerated, and even another leading eldest brother, Nobuhiro Yamada, was almost collapsed by Okubo, Ishikawa and other Tokugawa troops. Nobutaka Yamada sent envoys to Takeda Army to ask Takeda Shingen for reinforcements. Looking at Yamagata Masakage brought down the whole rhythm, the echelon after Yamagata Masakage, that is, the fourth son of Takeda Shingen, Takeda, the heir of Takeda family, immediately led the army to help. Under the attack of Takeda, a brave warrior, Takeda's army recovered the disadvantage at the beginning of the war, gradually expanded its numerical advantage into a war advantage and defeated the Tokugawa army. Benzhong, Natsume Soseki and many other ministers died, and even weaving reinforcements were tied.

However, despite the defeat of the Tokugawa Army, under the command of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the defeated Tokugawa Army returned safely to Bangsong City despite the defeat, and in the later Battle of Rhinoceros Tooth, iron cannons were used to intimidate Takeda Army at night, scaring many soldiers of Takeda Army with unknown terrain to fall off the cliff and die. It can be said that in the battle against Takeda Shingen, Tokugawa Ieyasu once defeated the pioneer of Takeda Army, and there was no rout after the war. Instead, the whole army returned to Hamamatsu safely, and he still had the mind and energy to go out of the city at night to attack Takeda Army. I have to say that he is a very good military commander, which is completely opposite to the image of "shrinking turtle" in traditional novels and film and television dramas.

Generally speaking, there was almost no concept of logistics in the early and middle period of the Warring States Period in Japan. It was not until a large-scale expeditionary military operation was carried out in the later period that the prototype of the logistics army appeared.

Let's give an example of the composition of the troops marching at the same time in the Three Kingdoms War: when marching, the troops are usually divided into front reserves, second reserves, third reserves, side reserves, flag-based reserves, reserves and so on. Sometimes it changes according to the number of people. Moreover, each "equipment" has its own army "He Tuozhong" to transport grain and grass. If you encounter an enemy, the former equipment will immediately cover the formation, and then the second equipment, the third equipment, and the flag-based equipment will begin to expand. At the same time, He Tuozhong will quickly leave the equipment and form a separate organization, which is generally arranged behind the flag-based equipment where the general is located, and behind He Tuozhong, in order to prevent the logistics troops and the general from being caught.

Usually in preparation, for example, before, the scouts who walked in front of the troops were called "pioneers" on foot, and after the pioneers, they were "flag bearers" holding flags. Then came the captain of the Iron Artillery Corps and his Iron Artillery Corps, followed by the Iron Artillery Corps and the Bow Foot Corps, followed by the Bow Foot Corps, the Army Commander and the First Army. Behind the generals are usually knights on horseback, and finally the logistics forces carry the masses.

Because of this, it is quite complicated for troops to change from marching formation to fighting formation in the face of war. Fighting is not a group fight, you can pick up bricks by saying hello. When Tokugawa Ieyasu suddenly meets Takeda Army, he can quickly set up a formation and beat Takeda Army forward. Have to say, in addition to Tokugawa Ieyasu's personal superior field command ability, but also inseparable from the Tokugawa Legion's good warfare. In the later battles of Changxiao and Shinohara, Takeda successfully held off the Weaving Tian Jun Brigade with military commanders such as Racecourse Xinchun, and then quickly defeated the Tokugawa Army with superior elite troops and then made a detour to attack Weaving Tian Jun, which was also defeated because of the martial arts of the Tokugawa Army.

It is worth mentioning that there is often a mixed army called "Bow Iron Gun" in the army reserve. Most of this army is dominated by bows and arrows and iron cannons, supplemented by a small number of long handles and light feet. However, this does not mean that the bows and cannons of the whole army are gathered in this army. Other front reserves, reserves, full backs, etc. Will be equipped with iron artillery and bow teams.
