The Historical Evolution of Suzhou Railway Station
In fact, there have been railway stations in Suzhou since the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Suzhou Railway Station was founded in the late Qing Dynasty 1906, funded by Suzhou local government, and officially put into use in 1908. At that time, the station building was only 205 square meters with two platforms.

During the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the station was severely damaged, and it was not restored until 194 1.

After liberation, the main area of Suzhou Railway Station was expanded to 1400 square meters. Although it has been repaired and expanded in the future, it has not changed much. Old Suzhou Railway Station/KLOC-0 was completed in April, 1979, and was put into use in June, 1982. The specifications of the station building are designed to gather up to 5000 people at a time. After the station was completed, the Shanghai Railway Bureau approved Suzhou Station to be upgraded to a first-class station.

The area of the new Suzhou Railway Station is nearly six times that of the existing railway station. The station is expanded from three platforms and eight railway lines to seven platforms and 16 railway lines. After completion, it will become the largest railway station and the largest waiting square in Jiangsu.

Suzhou Station was completed on 1908.

194 1 year for first maintenance.

After liberation, the main area of Suzhou Railway Station has been expanded.

1982 Suzhou Railway Station was upgraded to a first-class station. On the morning of October 28th, 2007, the Ministry of Railways and Jiangsu Province jointly held the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation project of Suzhou Railway Station. At that time, Liu Zhijun, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Railways, jiangsu provincial party committee, Governor Liang, jiangsu provincial party committee Standing Committee, Suzhou Municipal Party Committee Secretary and other provincial and municipal leaders attended the ceremony, which marked the official completion of the renovation project of Suzhou Railway Station. The construction goal of Suzhou new railway station is "the highlight of the national railway station", and it will be completed and put into operation in April 20 10. By then, the vast number of passengers will quickly complete the journey inside and outside the city through this first-class "dry port" in China.

The total investment of comprehensive reconstruction project in Suzhou Railway Station area is 654.38+0.2 billion yuan, of which the static budgetary estimate investment of railway station reconstruction project is 2.323 billion yuan. In his speech, jiangsu provincial party committee Secretary and Governor Liang emphasized that Suzhou Railway Station is one of the busiest railway stations in Jiangsu Province, and the transformation of Suzhou Railway Station will help to enhance the competitiveness of Suzhou city and the modernization level of Suzhou. He hoped that the relevant departments of Jiangsu Province and Suzhou City and the Shanghai Railway Bureau would cooperate efficiently and make every effort to build Suzhou Station into a "top-quality project and first-class station". In his speech, Wang Rong, member of the Standing Committee of jiangsu provincial party committee and secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, pointed out that the comprehensive reconstruction project of the railway station area will completely change the situation of mixed functions around the railway station area, insufficient municipal public welfare facilities, dirty environment and low quality of life of residents, and build the railway station area into a modern functional "window" new area integrating transportation, commerce and residence, which will effectively promote the development and construction of Pingjiang New Town and Xiangcheng District. Subsequently, Liu Zhijun, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Railways, announced the commencement of the renovation project of Suzhou Railway Station. The transportation capacity from medium-sized stations to super-large stations will increase exponentially.

The existing Suzhou Railway Station is designed and built according to the scale of the railway intermediate station 1982. With the sustained and rapid development of Suzhou's economy, the existing bus transport capacity and station waiting capacity are very tight, which can no longer meet the growing traffic demand of the people. Suzhou Railway Station sends 32,900 passengers a day, and in 2006, it sent 1 19 1 10,000 passengers. It is estimated that the number of passengers sent by the station will reach more than 30 million in 2030, and the transformation is imperative.

The railway station reconstruction project includes: the reconstruction and expansion project of the Beijing-Shanghai ordinary parking lot, the new Shanghai-Nanjing intercity parking lot project, the passenger station building, the pillar-free canopy and other passenger facilities.

The new railway station has five "parking lines" on the east side of the station. If properly arranged, Suzhou can have more than 5 departure trains, which can take up at least 50% of the ticket amount of one train as the departure station.

Powerful:

Dozens of escalators replace walking in and out of the station to realize automatic ticket checking.

The new Suzhou station is not only a railway station, but also a modern large-scale transportation hub in Suzhou. There are five floors of three-dimensional space from the underground to the ground, so passengers can easily transfer to rail transit, buses, taxis and other means of transportation without leaving the station. The reporter learned that in order to perfectly realize these functions, the concept of "people-oriented, flow-oriented" is embodied everywhere in the design of the whole station.

The new Suzhou station has two floors above ground and three floors underground, of which the second and third floors are rail transit platforms. In order to prevent passengers from being too tired in the large-scale comprehensive transportation hub with many transfer functions, the station has set up 44 escalators and 10 barrier-free elevators, and barrier-free handrails have been set up in the waiting room, ticket office and luggage room.

In addition, the platforms of the new railway station are all high platforms, that is, passengers can stand on the train one step ahead without climbing stairs, which is the same as the D prefix and the way of getting on the city subway. Also, the waiting halls on the 16 railway line are all overhead, so passengers can "airborne" to the platform by taking the escalator; There are no columns on the platform, which is much wider than the old one. Under special circumstances, the car can drive directly to the platform.

At the same time, a series of new technologies, new materials and new equipment have been applied to the interior design of Suzhou Railway Station. Sound barriers and sound-absorbing materials are widely used to reduce railway station noise; Indoor air conditioning adopts geothermal heat source, which is advanced in environmental protection; The automatic fare collection system will make passengers enter and leave the station as barrier-free as taking the city subway. Break the traffic bottleneck in the north in one fell swoop and gain development opportunities in Xiangcheng, Pingjiang.

The comprehensive renovation project of Suzhou Railway Station started in April 2007, and has been put into use in the North Square of the Railway Station today. A number of phased achievements have been made in one year. In addition to meeting people's demand for railways, the project also has multi-level and multi-directional goals such as alleviating urban traffic contradictions and responding to Suzhou's overall urban planning of "expanding northward". On the morning of June 5438+065438+1October 28, 2007, the groundbreaking ceremony was located at the completed Suzhou Railway Station Road. As the first phase of the comprehensive reconstruction project of the railway station, this east-west main road will play a role in diverting the traffic of people north of the railway station in the future. In order to break the traffic bottleneck between north and south, the comprehensive improvement project of Suzhou Railway Station area has designed four north extension passages crossing the railway, namely Guangji Road, Renmin Road, Qimenwai Street and Xiangmei Road, which have been completed and put into use. These roads will intersect with Suzhan Road in the north, pass through Pingjiang New Town and reach Xiangcheng District, so that the area north of the railway station will truly integrate with Suzhou ancient city and other urban areas.

The reconstruction project of Suzhou Railway Station first built the North Square and the North Station building. After the Beiguang station building is put into use, the existing station building will be demolished and the South Square and South Station building will be built. At present, the construction of the North Station Building and the North Square has been completed. The North Station Building was officially put into use on July 10, and the North Plaza will be put into use on June 20 1 10. The South Station Building and South Square were also completed and put into use on 20 13. As the new station is rebuilt on the original site, the Shanghai Railway Bureau will carefully organize and make reasonable arrangements, which will not affect Suzhou passengers' travel by train.
