Lixian County belongs to Longnan City, Gansu Province. It is located in Longnan Mountain area in the southeast of Gansu Province, the Jialing River system in the Yangtze River basin and the upper reaches of the Western Han River. It spans east longitude104 37'-105 36', north latitude 33 35'-34 31',and borders Qinzhou District and Xihe County of Tianshui City in the east.
The highest elevation in Lixian County is 33 12m, and the lowest elevation is 1080m, with a total area of 4299.92km2 Lixian County is the real birthplace of Qin State and Qin culture, and is known as the "hometown of Qin Huang".

The historical evolution of Lixian County;
1949 In August, Lixian County was liberated, and Lixian County People's Government was established, which was subordinate to Wudu District Administrative Office. 1955 was assigned to Tianshui district administrative Commissioner's office. 1958 In August, Xihe merged with Lixian County, renamed Xili County, and the county people's committee was located in Lixian County.
1962 Lixian county and Xihe county were separated. 1July, 985, Lixian County was placed under Wudu, and the original Wudu area was renamed Longnan Administrative Office. In 2004, Longnan withdrew land to set up a city, and Lixian County still belongs to it.
In 20 14, the provincial civil affairs department (Gan [20 14]No.1kloc-0/) approved the cancellation of Honghe Township, Kuanchuan Township, Qishan Township, Yongxing Township, Yongping Township and Zhongba Township, and established Honghe Town, Kuanchuan Town and Qishan Town. Provincial Civil Affairs Department (Gan [20 14]No. 16 1) approved the cancellation of Leiba Township and Barrow Township and the establishment of Leiba Town and Barrow Town. In the same year, Chengguan Town, Yan Guan Town and Baihe Town were listed as national key towns.
In 20 16, the provincial civil affairs department (Gan [20 16] 1) approved the cancellation of Yacheng Town, Taopingxiang Town and Longlin Township, and the establishment of Yacheng Town, Taoping Town and Longlin Town.
