Xuzhou, called "Xu" for short and called Pengcheng in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city and sub-central city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city approved by the State Council, a national comprehensive transportation hub and a central city of Huaihai Economic Zone.

The total area of the city is 1 1258 square kilometers, and the registered population is103.48 million. It has jurisdiction over 2 cities (Xinyi and Pizhou), 3 counties (Fengxian, Peixian and Suining), 5 districts (Yunlong, Gulou, Quanshan, Tongshan and Jiawang) and 65438.

In recent years, Xuzhou has successively become a national environmental protection model city, a national forest city, a national health city and a national ecological garden city. It has been rated as a national civilized city, the safest city in China, the UN Habitat Award and the "happiest city in China" for three times.
