Production Status of Radish in Weixian County
Weixian has been planting radishes for more than 300 years. It was recorded in Wei County Records during the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. Its main producing areas are located on the banks of Bailang River and Yu He River in the plain. The soil is mainly light clay, which has good fertilizer efficiency and water retention. The content of organic matter, phosphorus, potassium and other elements is high, and the potassium content in soil is about 150ppm. According to scientific research, potassium plays a special role in the formation and improvement of radish quality. In the past, Weixian radish was mainly planted in small vegetable gardens in the suburbs of Weifang. Although it has a cultivation history of more than 300 years, it has not formed a scale and its advantages have not been fully exerted because of its self-production and self-marketing. By adjusting the industrial structure, integrating the advantages of resources and technology, Weifang vigorously develops production, which makes the radish industry in Weixian county develop rapidly. 1999, the planting area of Weicheng, Kuiwen and Hanting is less than 200 km ㎡, reaching 200km ㎡, 2007, with a total output of over 90,000 tons. Among them, autumn stubble1333 km2, with a total output of about 60,000 tons, mainly supplied to the winter and early spring markets; 666 km ㎡ small arch shed cultivation in early spring and sunlight greenhouse cultivation in winter, mainly supplying fresh radish market in late spring, summer and winter.
