After five years of teaching, what have we changed?
As a member of the social practice team of the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University, I was fortunate to participate in this teaching activity last year and this summer. Two years later, this teaching experience made me think a lot ... what have we brought from teaching for five years? Since 2004, under the organization of the Youth League Committee of the school and the college, the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Wuhan University has organized students to carry out love education activities in Shancha Primary School in Maochang Town, Dafang County, Guizhou Province every summer vacation. So far, it has been five years. In the past five years, we have been teaching in Shancha Primary School for more than 20 days every summer vacation, teaching them Chinese, math, English, art and music (usually only teaching Chinese and math locally). Many people once wanted to know what we could change and how effective it was. In Guizhou, there are many places like Shancha Primary School. How many schools can we go to teach? Five years later, this history gave us the best answer: in Camellia, we walked for five years and will continue next year. We didn't go to Camellia to teach. What we want to change is not only their achievements, but also their closed and conservative consciousness, so that they can understand the outside world. In other words, we teach for hope. Therefore, instead of going to different schools every year, it is better to continue teaching in one place and get familiar with the local basic situation. At the same time, let the society pay attention to the poor areas and care about the schooling problems of children in poor areas. The change of Shancha Primary School has been teaching for five years, and the teaching team members have witnessed the change of Shancha Primary School: Shancha Primary School has changed from a temporary desk made of stones and boards to a new desk replaced by teaching team members; From not having an extra-curricular book five years ago to dozens of various books now. Although the school is still in six grades and squeezed into three shabby and dim classrooms, year after year, the Shancha Primary School we see is making progress step by step. Parents of students are blind because of occlusion; Because there is no culture, I am a little ignorant. In that village surrounded by mountains, each family has several children. As parents, most of them only know how to read and write their own names. Few parents are willing to send their children to junior high school, let alone college! In the past five years, the teaching team members have communicated with local villagers through home visits and other forms to publicize the importance of education. Up to now, many parents have greatly improved the importance of education. Five years of teaching not only brought students simple book knowledge, but also brought them a brand-new world, a world they seldom knew before but are looking forward to now, and also brought them hope and courage to go out. This is also the most gratifying thing for several teaching team members. Since the country implemented the western development, the teaching life in the eyes of a college student who is teaching has developed rapidly in the whole western region. However, many villages are still in an extremely backward state, with traffic jams and backward concepts. Want to fundamentally change this face can't be solved overnight. As college students, we have no ability to change the backwardness of the whole western region. All we can do is to express our feelings or sense of responsibility in some way. So, we persisted for five years. In the past five years, this teaching activity in Guizhou has experienced many ups and downs. From the initial teaching to the later parallel teaching and social investigation, every year, the teaching team members have paid a lot and learned a lot. During the teaching activities, the teaching team members have mastered the detailed family information of some poor students through home visits and surveys, and helped local teachers find sponsors. At the same time, the teaching team members have further realized the hardships of local life, so they know how to cherish and love life more. Up to now, five years have become history, and we will stick to the rest of the road. It may be limited, but it will never stay the same. As a local teacher said, "Maybe you won't see any results in a year or two, but if you come here again in ten or twenty years, you will find it is very different from other neighboring villages!" Even for the sake of "results", we should stick to this activity. What we are doing now is just working hard for it. At the same time, I also hope that more people will pay attention to the western region, the poor areas, the poor students who are still worried about whether they can go to junior high school, and the disharmony with the prosperity of the city ... This is what we want to see most. ...
