How do Americans view the history of China?
Americans have limited knowledge of China's history, except for some "sinologists" and specialized historians, and basically lack understanding of China's history. Historical research in Europe and America is mainly self-centered (usually called "Eurocentrism"), and less attention is paid to foreign countries and regions. Moreover, there is a significant gap between Chinese and western cultural concepts, and there are various historical research methods, so the interpretation of the same period of history may be quite different. Because ideological factors are inevitable in modern history (for both sides), I won't comment here for the sake of objectivity.

The history of China (both ancient and modern) is covered in the General History of the World by Stavri and Anoos. If you watch it, you can change your perspective. In addition, The History of the Republic of China in Cambridge and The History of China in Cambridge (which seems to have a history of the late Qing Dynasty), edited by Fei Zhengqing, are devoted to the modern history of China. The authors themselves have a deep study of China culture and have high credibility.
