18 19, Tang Wenzao, a magistrate of a county, renovated the Han Temple and turned it into a place for children to study, named Dongshan Academy.

1898, Qiu, a patriot, a famous educator and poet, became the dean of Dongshan College.

1904, Dongshan Academy was restructured into a formal Dongshan higher primary school, and a new academic system was implemented. 19 15, the official Dongshan Senior Primary School was transformed into Chaoyang County Lizhong School, also known as Dongshan Middle School. First, Ren Zhongxue's principal Xiao is a famous educator in Chaoyang.

193 1, Chaoyang county people's government middle school was transformed into county rural normal school.

1936, renamed Chaoyang county simple normal school.

From 1936 to 1942, the school building was bombed by Japanese planes and demolished by the Japanese army, so it had to be temporarily closed.

1943, the simple normal school and the first junior high school at the city and county level merged into Chaoyang county-level joint middle school. As the county seat was occupied by the Japanese army, the school is located in Guiyu Renxiang, with a junior high school and a normal department.

1947, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the county-level joint middle school moved back to the county seat and took classes in Chenghuang Temple, Sima Temple and Shikuilin Temple. The following year, it was renamed Chaoyang No.1 Middle School. 1949 10, Chaoyang county was liberated and the county people's government took over the first middle school.

1950, Chaoyang No.1 Middle School was renamed Chaoyang No.1 Middle School.

1978, Chaoyang Wuqi Middle School resumed the original name of Chaoyang County No.1 Middle School, became a key middle school in the county, and was designated as one of the key middle schools in Shantou.

1993, Chaoyang withdrew from the county to set up a city, and Chaoyang No.1 Middle School was renamed Chaoyang No.1 Middle School.

1994 Chaoyang No.1 Middle School successfully passed the assessment and became a first-class school in Guangdong Province.

In 2004, Chaoyang No.1 Middle School was renamed as Shantou Chaoyang No.1 Middle School.

From June 5438 to 10, 2007, it became the first batch of schools in Guangdong Province to be recognized as national model ordinary high schools in Guangdong Province, which marked that the school's running conditions and the quality of education and teaching have reached a new level.

In 2008, it was awarded the provincial civilized unit by the Guangdong provincial government.
