Kaifeng Museum was founded in March 1962, formerly known as Kaifeng Exhibition Hall. After the provincial museum moved to Zheng, Sansheng Street was established at the original site. Because the original building of the old site of the museum was damaged and could not adapt to the development of various businesses, it was expanded into a new museum on 1986. The new museum was completed in September 1988 and officially opened to the outside world, which became a major event in Kaifeng's cultural undertakings.
